Brady's safety or Welkers dropped ball. Which play was the bigger backbreaker?

Welkers taking some heat from the media (at least, the article I've read this morning) For missing a pass that would have given the Pats a new set of downs and a great scoring opportunity.

But not to be overlooked is the fact that if Brady would not have grounded in the end zone, the Pats would have been up 4 instead of 2 (maybe even more had they scored on the 1 play drive)

With a 4 point lead they could have sealed the game by doing what they had been doing all night...stopping the Giants in the red zone...

So which play do you think had the more devastating affect on the game overall? I say Bradys, because it affected the scoreboard.

Welker's missed catch. He never had the ball so he couldn't have dropped it.

BTW, I wonder if the Patriot fans are tweeting death threats to Welker? Probably not... they aren't 49ers fans.

Brady's brain-fart play happened so early that the Pats had plenty of time to overcome it. Welker's drop (and the drops by Branch and Hernandez on the next drive) had a lot more impact on the outcome of the game if you ask me because there was no time left to overcome them. The Pats didn't lose by 1, they lost by 4, so a 2-point Brady safety didn't end up costing the Pats the game. Receivers not catching passes and costing the team 10-20+ yards on 3 plays late in the game cost the Patriots a chance to win.

None, those are mistakes, and mistakes happen in the NFL. What about the holding call on Boothe late in the first half? It negated a first down of on a long Giants drive, forced them to punt, and then the Patriots scored. That was a huge penalty at the time, and was just as big Brady's intentional grounding, and Booth may have been the goat if the Giants had lost.

the safety. it took away possible points for the Pats, while adding points to the Giants' side of the score board. Not to mention, it essentially eliminated the Patriots' time of possession for the first quarter, making it difficult for the offense to get into the game in the first half.

I don't put a loss on a single player-never have-never will. Every player has personal success and defeats during a game. The teams deservedly get the W and L.

Look it it this way-if every play worked to perfection-every play would have been a scoring play and they would have been up 83-0.

The safety was a back breaker. It showed Brady the lady was shaken and unsure from the moment he first walked on the field and he clearly was afraid of the new York defensive line. From that point on it was clear he was gonna rely on hail Mary plays when he got in the slightest hint of trouble.

The backbreaker was the ******* referee awarding 2 points to the Giants at the beginning of the game. What a bullshit call, I mean a call like that hasn't been done in football in over five years.

Neither was a back breaker. There were MANY opportunities for the pats to win after that...
