Should I pull my kid out of Kindergarten when the teacher has been arrested for driving under the influence?

the teacher is back, and apparently went under some scrutiny by the supervisor (private Kindergarten) but now he's back, with no communication from the school. Do I pull her out, with only a month or so of school left this term?

Update:

ok... important detail. The influence they were under was drugs. I don't know what kind. They do have field trips, but I can say no to those. good questions.

Update 2:

These are helpful thoughts. The downside is: my kid gets moved. She has to reconnect. The semester left is... well... not that long but she'll be out of sync.

The public kindergarten is fine as far as I know. I would disagree that I "know that the public school teacher is not on drugs". And even in the case I know: it was off the campus, not during school. It could have been prescription, could even have been accidental. I just don't know. But I've become less and less trustful of the school. Either soon, or at the term, I'll be glad for her to move on. Ug. This weights on me.

Update 3:

Ok... unbelievably... this keeps going. I took her to school today and spoke with the teacher. I said... I need to know that my daughter is safe. I come to find out (though not from the teacher directly) that the drugs were prescription, and possibly a suicidal ideation. OY!

Strangley.. the answer to one of the comments: NO the school did not tell me anything. I found out everything through the public record.

There cannot be any more harm out of this. I would finish the semester, then make sure your child gets the teacher you want next semester.

It would be overreacting to get your child held back a grade over a situation that isn't even a classroom issue.

You have that ability as a parent- you can homeschool, move your child to a another private school or ask the administration to move your child to another class or move to public.

Its a difficult question- that teacher did nothing at the school - correct? the public expects teachers to be perfect. (no judgement there - just a noticed fact) Should the school have fired the teacher? The school obviously told the parents- should that have happened?

In my district teacher with DUI's are fired.

Has the teacher been helpful to your daughter? is there a connection there? could something be resolved by discussing this with the teacher? You'll want to do whatever seems more stable for your daughter.

If it was drugs, I would. Who's to say when he uses drugs, or how long they take to stop affecting his body.

If if was drugs, why did they let him back in to teach?

Oh, I see, it is a private school! They can do whatever they want! A public school teacher would have been fired.

I would take her out. People criticize public school, but it happens everywhere.

Edit: You worry about her being "out of sync." But, Kindergarten isn't even required. Besides, if the school reinstated him, do you trust that school at all?

You seemed very upset by this, but now are back pedaling (oh...it might have been a prescription...my daughter would have to reconnect...it was off campus....etc.)

I personally don't see a reason to take my child out if that teacher is doing a good job while in school. If the children know what is going on, unfortunately it will be because of overhearing the adults speculate. But of course, it all comes down to how comfortable you would feel. Listen to your instinct as a parent. If you feel more comfortable changing teachers then do it.

Why? do you expect your teacher to be driving your kid around any time before she leaves the class?

I assume you've had parent-teacher meetings with him before and/or sat in on the class and had no complaints. Everyone I know, inlcluding myself, has driven while legally under the influence...most of us are just very lucky.

    Leave your kid be.

I would. Do you think public school is really any worse? At least you know that your kids teacher is not on drugs.
