Why does my daughter act this way?

Question

My husband and I are very worried about our step-daughter.  She is very aloof, doesn't notice things that normal people do.  Asks really stupid and obvious questions.  She is about to be 10 and won't brush her hair or bathe or change her clothes unless she is with us and not her mother and she goes back and forth.  She acts like she can't remember anything.  She is very clumsy and messy.  She won't talk about any problems.  How can we help?

Honestly alot of kids hate bathing at that age. But it sounds like she wants attention. You need to be strict with her and be stern or else she'll grow up to be even worse. Order her to brush her hair, if she doesnt put her in time out. But thts if shes goofing off. If you think its more than just goofing off and its more like a mental problem since you said she asks stupid questions you may want to take her to a doctor.

Perhaps she is suffering from some form of depression. Also, the fact that you are here seeking help means that you care. At the same time, you wording was somewhat harsh. If strangers can pick up on this, maybe she is as well. Try getting her professional help. She could be crying out for help.

Could be a vision problem, a hearing problem, a mental problem.  Ir perhaps she is intentionally annoying you.
