Is Democracy Good or Bad?
Not the "Generic" term of democracy, but true democracy of majority rule prevails to what law is.

in true democracy, majority makes the law, therefore they rule themselves. there are 2 types of democracy, absolute and representative, u can probably guess what happens in each. Representative gov.(USA) was created because they were scared that idiots would be able to vote and make our gov a joke (such as electing lady gaga as president). I think representative gov is safer than absolute for this reason but to tell you the truth, I visited the capital building and saw the house of congress in action and it is not like you see it on TV. none of the representatives and sitting in their seats, instead, they are socializing with other representatives. There were also several small children and dogs running around the floor. The entire time, the speaker of the house was slamming his gavel on his desk asking for quiet. I personally believe that this is just a show and that all of these clowns' votes are not taking seriously. They prob. have a separate room where they have intelligent people talking about important things. Sorry if this doesn't answer your question but its really your opinion which type of gov you prefer. I prefer democracy over communism any day because i like being rewarded for my hard work you know?

Yes, the founding fathers saw it as dangerous and instead made us a Republic. Pure Democracy would turn into interest groups with a lot of power and they believed power should rest in the people. Not groups.
Just want to add... Political parties seem like these interest groups, and I heard that the founders even specifically warned against political parties.

Democracy is two Wolves and a Lamb voting on what's for lunch, in our Representative Republic the Lamb has a magazine fed rapid fire Assault Rifle.

No. Democracies are susceptible to tyrannical rule. That's where the US is headed. We're taking the same route the Roman Empire did just before it collapsed.

no sich thing as true democracy.
no law can be passed without fifty percent + 1 of every community in the nation approving? that's unworkable. only in small towns, like in Vermont, can there be direct democracy like town meetings.
bye.

Pure democracy is mob rule.
No sensible government would ever do that.

Sir Winston Churchill said it best.
"It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic
Source(s): Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
