Can I drive my friends car without insurance?

I don't own a car. I don't have auto insurance in canada. If I borrow a friends or familyies car, am I covered under his insurance?

Update:

what insurance companies might have the policy where i dont have to be included?

They must cover the car regardless of who is driving, having said that if you're going to do it often then It's a good idea to be on the policy because if anything will happen and you're not on the policy then your friend might find himself never be able to get an insurance company who will be willing to sell him insurance.

If you have a full driver's licence, you will often be covered on the owner's insurance if he or she givesyou permission to drive the car. However, this is not always the case so you'd need to check what the terms and conditions of the policy is.

Depends on the policy. A lot of insurers insure the car with a name entitled to it, however some policies will insure non-listed drivers.

Depends on his policy. He needs to check with his agent to see.
