What is the most memorable moment in previous Academy Awards ceremonies?

This Sunday, February 26 is the 84th Annual Academy Awards hosted by a favorite, Billy Crystal.

    1) Heath Ledger's name was announced for Best Supporting Actor. His family comes to accept it and the faces of few stars like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn, Kate Winslet and Adrien Broody are shown. They all are almost crying. Don't know whether they're pretending, but the moment was heart melting.

    2) Robert Benigni stands up on seats and raises his hands in every direction after being announced as Best Actor.

    3) Tom Hanks wins Best Actor for Forrest Gump and cries.

    4) Harrison Ford announces Roman Polanski's name for the best director for "Pianist'. And everyone gets up from their seats to applaud for the absent Director, even Martin Scorsese gets up.

    5) Angelina Jolie wins for Girl Interrupted and says she is in love with her brother. (It was shockingly memorable).

Definitely when David Niven was presenting and the streaker ran behind him at the 46th Annual Academy Awards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IIl3zSYL8k.

I love his comment about how the only laugh the guy will ever get is by stripping down and showing the world his shortcomings.

Other good ones included Jack Palance doing push-ups, Adrien Brody laying that major kiss on Halle Berry, and the look on Jack Nicholson's face when he announced "Crash" won over the favored "Brokeback Mountain."

    The crying game

Was it Gweneth Paltrow or Halle Berry or someone else, can't remember but they spend so much time on stage thanking their plants, mats and everything you can think of in the kitchen sink that you forget what they received an award for?

Blubber, spoils it for everyone else.

ps: the recent diss was with Adele - not even allowed a minute for 'thank you's Absolutely appalling.

I suppose if there ever were such a concept as 'memorable moment' it would have to be Bob Hope singing "Thanks for the Memories". Other than that it would have to be last year. I finally found my remote and was able to put an end to the Hollywood Nonsense, at least for myself. It is all really a cosmic joke . . . all the blacks trying desperately to look white . . . all the whites hoping to pass for black [hollywood-whites, of the Susan Sarrandon or Sean Penn ilk, actually pay their local genealogists good money to find at least one black hiding in their ancestral tree].

When I get up and turn it off or change channels. Better things to do than watch self appreciating societies.
