If they are in orphanages, eventually they have to leave and get a job. Many are homeless or or on the street. Some are sold into the sex trade or servitude. I'm sure others suceed and get out of these places safely but it's hard to say.

In the USA, they usually get loans for college. Most orphans end up poor living paycheck to paycheck and very few in the middle class.

In third world countries like India orphans are living on the streets... so they grow up to be drunks and drug users living on the street...

Who bothers about Orpahans? Even NGOs often start with vigour and later on their interests fads once the person connected with such NGOs come to lime light. If you go by the Media reports, many remand homes and children homes are left in lurch to fend for themselves. If the chldren are female, they become victims of criminal assault withthe help of those who manage the homes and the Politicans.

Normaly the orphans find outside world in the open far better than the homes.

You asked an interesting question. If you want to know the answer for this question you must also try to understand how all people live along. It is something very hard for perception. It is true that they are leading a miserable life anyhow.
