Our free will is in our desires only. All actions, as a result from our desires, are performed by material nature (as in our case) or by spiritual nature (in the liberated state). Fate and karma also depend on our desires we maintain at present and in the past.

Material nature is divided in three modes: Goodness, passion and ignorance. Depending on the type of desires we maintain, our actions and their resultant reactions will also be characterized by these three modes.

The body and its faculties - such as mind and intelligence - is provided and owned by material nature and serves as an instrument for the soul. By observing the body and it's activities we can tell by what mode the soul is conditioned.

    Schematically, it looks as follows:

    Jiva soul

--> cultivates desires, using its free will

--> a consciousness is developed accordingly

--> under the superintendence of material nature, a subtle material body is formed, befitting the consciousness

--> a gross material body is obtained, enveloping the subtle body

--> material nature moves the body to perform activities (karma) and creates a befitting environment for the body to be placed in.

--> a continuation of actions and reactions (karma and fate) take place in a cyclic fashion.

All the while, the soul continues to choose new desires in an attempt to solve problems and the cycle of action and reaction continues to take place and thus the body and the environment of the body (our world) continues to change accordingly.

Thus our fate can be changed through our desires, which we can choose freely.

Hello friend Hare Krishna, in reality you have got full freedom to choose the right and wrong. Right and wrong are relative terms. You the observer with all intelligence have created this whole creation. But now you seem as if you are bound with all these material nature, fate and karma. That is the exposition of "MAYA". Ma - Not and Ya-that. So that not. So free will is always there. Please dive within yourself dear. Let the bundle of thoughts vanish. You then realize what you are in its true form. So you are always there. You have free will to do as you wish. But the laws are also there to which the action and reaction are well bound. So every one has their own free will. No one is above or below the other. But due to maya it appears so. That is what we call ignorance or sin. Get out of the mesh, comrade. All the best.

Everything depends on one thing..... "The Path" of our life. It might be right or wrong, but by deep thinking, we can get to know that... the path we are going to choose......... does it relate to our soul and soul purposes..
