anybody knows how a transistor functions?

transistor is the top device nowadays and the fundamental of the electronics...do you know it works?

    A MOSFET, which is the most used transistor, works as follows

    Two electrodes are placed at the two ends of what we call an active medium and a voltage is applied. Depending on this medium, there could either be current flowing or not as is. A third electrode is placed on top of this active medium and when voltage is applied to it, it makes the active medium conduct or not conduct.

    That is the most simplistic way I can think of.
