will sims 3 work on mac?

I have sims 3 on my mac, I installed it from a friend's disc.
There is a steam sale on with Sims 3 at £10 with expansions also cheap. I fancy buying the game to support the developer and get the late night expansion.
however, the steam version only supports windows apparently, however it says this in the disclaimer...

it mentions mac.
will it work with OSX?
if not, will I be able to use my serial key from purchasing the game to use on my cracked version and then install a cracked version of late night and use that key when I buy it?
i.e. are there any work arounds?

i'm having the same problem on my macbook pro laptop. i called customer support yesterday and was on the phone for well over and hour and pretty much all i got is "that's really weird i don't know what it's doing that" i have every other sims expansion on my computer and this is the only one i've ever had a problem like this with. they told me to uninstall and reinstall which i did several times, guess what? didn't work. i also have been constantly checking forums for solutions, one that sort of worked for slightly longer than normal was removing all my custom content. looks like we're just going to have to wait until they fix this problem and create a new patch. until then, don't create or do any activity near a horse -_____-'
