Can you be baptized more than once? I thought that was a one shot deal and you could only do it once?

Update:

Catholics believe that you are only Baptized once. You can make a Profession of Faith if you have been baptized in another faith but they consider baptism to be a one time event. Catholics believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that only through Him can we enter Heaven. So why do some other "Christian " faith's think that Catholics are not Christian? Jesus handed down his church to St. Peter. "On this Rock I will build my Church" that seems pretty clear to me about how he felt about it.

I was baptized as a baby which is totally against scripture.

When I found out the truth for myself I believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, repented and then was baptized for the remissions of sins.

    Mark 16:16

“He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Acts 2:38 And Peter [said] to them, “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I was baptized twice. That's because, as an adult, I chose a different religion than the one I was "raised" in.

■Christian baptism involves complete immersion in water, not just sprinkling.—Matthew 3:16.

■Steps leading to baptism begin with taking in knowledge and showing faith followed by repentance, conversion, and the dedicating of oneself to God.—John 17:3; Acts 3:19; 18:8.

■To make a dedication to Jehovah, you must disown yourself, even as people disowned themselves to follow Jesus.—Mark 8:34.

■Baptism symbolizes dying to one’s former way of life and becoming alive to do God’s will.—1 Peter 4:2.

christians believe that someone has to be of sufficient age that they know what they are doing and what it symbolizes when get dunked. The person has to "accept jesus into their heart" which is not what the catholics believe. catholics "baptize" infants. so someone who was batized catholic and then converts to christianity will be batized twice.

*WTF? Who thumbed me down? All I did was give a possible explanation of why someone might be baptized twice? Why am I even in this f*cking section? F*cking morons abound here.
