Do you get the feeling that some feminists don't actually know much about feminism?
I find this to be true, especially with self-proclaimed feminists on the Internet; though I've noticed it in person too.
Here's what I mean:
Anti-fem- "I'm an anti-feminist."
Fem- "Oh you don't think women should get to vote or get equal pay? They should stay in the kitchen?"
Anti-fem- "....."
We've all seen or heard this argument.
General ignorance of MRAs and anti-feminist's beliefs, could definitely contribute to this mindset. So could the trolls on this site alone.
But do these types of feminists think that the only thing the rest of them care about is voting rights, equal pay, and kitchen duty?
It seems like many feminists know much less about feminism than the anti-feminists do.
What's your take on this. Do real feminists look down on this type of person? Feel embarrassed?
Won't someone explain this to me?!
Muchos grassythanks.

Most "feminists" are completely unaware of what the higher-ups in the movement actually stand for and advocate. They believe the slogans that feminism is "for equality!" yet they can't really define that or tell you ANYTHING about what feminist 'leaders' actually campaign towards in Washington. For example you tell them that many prominent feminists advocate for female prisons being shut down and they answer with denials. They are either A) completely misinformed about their own movement. B) Lying. C) They just aren't really big on thinking. D) They agree with the crazies.
Good observation.

Maybe it is the MRAs who are mistaken.. I've found they seem to think feminists are still into the same things they were into in the 70s, but younger feminists are in a whole different league compared to them.
Why would a feminist need to know what MRAs are saying about feminists? That won't tell them what feminists are up to.. that will tell them what non-feminists are saying. Not the same thing.
For example, many MRAs seem to think golddigging is related to feminism when it is actually quite anti-feminist.

I believe ALL who say it's about equality don't know anything about it. Most of them do now, but the still claim it's about equality like ignorant rats. Yes, anti-feminists know more about it than men and women who claim there feminists.
People on here that say feminists books clearly don't know that books can be made to say anything.

Yeah, seen that many times, here and in real life.
People jump on bandwagons for ideas that sound good on the surface
Stuff like save the trees , because without them we wont have any air.
When in reality most oxygen is made in the oceans by stuff like sea weed.
@kenneth..have never read a book about feminism in their lives.--- Do people have to read Mein Kampf to know nazis are bad? Or are their works suffiencent for most people?

I don't quite understand your question. What are you looking for. Are you talking about those like me who answer and say they don't care about the "equality" that feminists have fought for over the decades? I know what feminism is. I don't think it's some man-hating movement like all these others keep claiming on here. However, I believe that women were better off before the equal pay, voting rights and rights to go die in battle as well as other programs that push women into jobs where it's not their place to be in the first place. We were more valuable and put on a pedestal and treated with respect and cared for before we had these so-called rights.

Oh they know.
They just want to hide the fact that mainstream feminists don't give a shyt about men (or are actively working to harm men).

Of course they know. They just want to play dumb which I find very annoying.

those are people who get the general idea and skew it to fit their perception. i think some people on both sides are simply "trying to make the scene" so to speak.
to me it seems like the fems and MRAs that really understand and wisely promote their causes are usually not extremists.

I get the feeling that a lot of MRAs and Anti-Feminists have never read a book about feminism in their lives.
Sure, there are times when a feminist says something ignorant, that is a given when passions are high. A lot of quotes from feminists were just mere rants, you have to take it into context.
