To my Jehovah Witness Friends- What is Paradise Supposed to Be Like?

I'm trying to learn more about what the New System is supposed to be like.

What will you do? What will Paradise be like? Will there be sin of any kind? (even small ones? Like thinking about something foolish? If so, if someone can sin, what happens to them?) Will there be death? How will you clean up after armageddon? How will waste be disposed of? Will everyone have to become vegetarians because there will be peace among the animals? What about our favorite junk foods? I can't just go get a hershey chocolate truffle, enjoy a happy meal, or a Starbucks anymore, can I? (I'm not fat by the way :-) lol) Will there be sadness at all? Or will everyone be happy all the time with no worries? Will there be any technology or pollution?

I ask the last question because in all the publications it looks beautiful and peaceful. Very nice. But there are never any cell phones, computers, roads, cars etc.. or any worldly things at all in them. I remember reading that *all* worldly things would be destroyed in armageddon, so what would that include? All manmade things? If so, what would rebuilding be like without heavy machinery? And if there's no pollution, then there's no power plants to heat and cool our homes, right?

How does all this work?

It's supposed to be like the Garden of Eden restored, right? So does that mean one can still have freedom of choice and sin, therefore not making it perfect anymore?

And Revelation 7 vs 16 kinda confuses me. Could you clarify please? It says 'you will hunger nor thirst anymore.' What does that mean for an Earthly Paradise that will continue to be hungry enough to eat and make crops and thirsty enough to drink? (and will we have any of our current beverages? Like Coke, Snapple, energy drinks, Pepsi, Sonic limeades??)

I remember reading something about how people will be resurrected to Paradise Earth over time and each person will have about 3 or 4 acres a piece? Is that right? If so, how would they have enough room on Earth for everyone?

I remember reading that the WT teaches that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous. Are there any persons who would *not* be resurrected then, seeing as how everyone who's ever lived fits into that category?

Even after surviving armageddon, is there any point that you'll be guaranteed salvation? Or do you still have to work for the 1000 years? How will you know for sure if you're still in good standing? For example, is it possible to go to 999 years and still be eliminated?

I very much value your own personal opinions and thoughts. I've read enough WT publications, but what I value the most is the Bible. If I could be shown where *all* of this is in the Bible, I think it'd clarify things much more for me. I enjoy hearing what you have to say and teach and what your own thoughts are on this. I love learning about this stuff, and I realize that I have a lot of questions. So thank you for your time and response. I appreciate it. Thank you.

Paradise will be beautiful beyond compare.

Sin of any kind - we'll be perfect. If anyone does sin they will be destroyed immediately, we'll still have free will so we can make a wrong choice.

Death - no Revelation 21:3,4. There are other scriptures that say that death will be swallowed up and so forth.

Cleaning up after armageddon - never thought about it. But it'll happen.

Waste - Jehovah provided laws for the Israelites in the past concerning hygiene so that'll be taken care of.

I really doubt we will be vegetarians. The animals are used for food, so hopefully not.

I'm guessing we will have to wait on that.

No sadness at all. We will all be happy.

Technology - not too sure; pollution - no. Jehovah says he will bring to ruin those ruining the earth.

In the past before these things were invented, humans survived. So, don't stress.

It means that there will be plenty of things for everyone on Earth.

More like 4 lots for every one person, if I remember correctly. I remember it from a talk a brother gave a few years back. So I think the brother used 26 billion people as a rough estimate and there was enough land mass for 26 billion people.

There are three persons for sure that are not going to be resurrected - Adam, Eve and Judas.

There is one person for sure who is going to be resurrected - the man who died with Jesus on the torture stake, and Jesus promised him that he would be in Paradise. Check Luke for the account.

No there's no guarantee. We have 1000 years to reach to perfection, then Satan will be let out for a little while in an attempt to mislead us. Some of us will follow Satan and will be permanently destroyed. The others will live forever. I don't think it's possible to go to 999 years and be eliminated. Hopefully not.

You've instilled in my little brain too many scary thoughts :-P

Hope this helps. Seeing that the others already put scriptures, I didn't want to do overdo it. :-) Have a nice day.

With regard to the question of technology - I don t think there will be technology as we know it.

Nature is Jehovah s technology and it cannot be improved on. Why have a car when you can have clean transportation like a horse.

To have technology you need industry. Industry = pollution.

Technology in this system is designed to speed things up. In the new world we will have forever to do all the things we want to do. Put on a backpack and travel round the world - so what if it takes you 100 years? You won t be any older. Your loved ones will still be here when you get back.

To get a feel of what the new world be like, consider the society s publications and the artist s impression of the new world for the best answer. Look carefully at what is show, but also look carefully at what is missing.

Finally - in the new world our minds and bodies will be perfect. We can barely imagine what we will be capable of. We won t need any of the technology used in Satan s world. Remember "I am making all things new".

    Grace,

Here we go (1) We can do what ever our hearts desire, after all we are going to be perfect, living in a perfect world, for eternity with our King Jesus. (2) Paradise will be a perfect world filled with God's creations with perfect people serving Jehovah eternally. (3) No sin in Paradise. Remember the sinners that don't repent will be destroyed in Armageddon. With a perfect mind no one will sin the thought will not even cross our minds. (4) No death, eternal life. (5) We will have to wait for Jehovah to guide us as far as clean up goes when the time comes. (6) Food, oh my goodness, there will be abundance of food, even on the very tip of the mountains there will be abundance of food. (Psalms 72:16) By the way I LUV CHOCOLATE ALSO. (7) Why would there be sadness? Jehovah will provide every thing we need for eternity, in a perfect place with perfect bodies, no kind of sadness what so ever.(Revelation 21:4) (8) As far as TECHNOLOGY is concerned no JW can really answer this accurately, we have to wait for the new directions that will come forth after Armageddon.

It is only natural to wonder about so many things, but if we are 100% confident and trust Jehovah ALWAYS, we know he will answer all our questions and fulfill all our desires at the appropriate moment. Hang in there, it would be great to meet you in Paradise.

    Have a great day.

You probably need a bible study. You should contact Jehovah's Witnesses and ask for one.

    REGARDING YOUR FIRST PARAGRAPH

Regarding the new system, the bible doesn't provide all the details, mostly because, and this IS important, the new system isn't coming primarily to satisfy our personal needs but to VINDICATE THE NAME OF JEHOVAH.

The details not provided were left out for Jehovah to see what kind of people we are and if our spiritual paradise and the name of Jehovah is our priority. People of faith are content with the above.

Again I would strongly encourage you to ask for a bible study and to go through the manual "What does the bible really teach?" You ask for a personal input I would say, your question display a very physical self-centered approach to the universal issue (NOT your fault). As your spirituality develops your priorities will change from whether there will be STARBUCKS to whether the name of Jehovah God will be claeared of all reproach. Like the Israelites that after 40 years eating the same thing learnt that the spiritual priorities are the key to eternal happiness not PEPSI.

You'll get there, don't worry you are looking in the wrong direction for now if you are humble you will change your focus soon enough.

    My kind regards,

    SUNSHINE

    First question.

    What will you do?

I am not sure. First will be the providing of housing and other necessities. I won't worry too much about that because we have the example of the provisions that Jehovah God gave to the Israelites in the wilderness. He will support us with any shortage that might make it difficult to live, as the scriptures speaks of him preparing "a banquet" of provisions. Since we are talking about the whole earth, when the war is finished, it will be winter somewhere which is the time that there will be no crops easily accessible for food.

I will try to answer more questions.

    What will Paradise be like?

We have the descriptions from Isaiah and the other prophets. Security, dwelling in homes and having our needs there locally, peace with the animal creation, peace with all of our neighbors, protection from natural events that cause massive damage. Jehovah God, through his Son's Kingdom will give us the education and healing so that we become perfect. What does that mean? Well, remember God's words about the inclination of men was bad from the youth onward? As that healing takes effect, we will no longer have that inclination. Our thinking will be toward the positive, non-selfish thinking. Our hearts will be not be leading us toward doing badness, and will have an aversion towards it.

Next group of questions, since they are related.

"Will there be sin of any kind? (even small ones? Like thinking about something foolish? If so, if someone can sin, what happens to them?) "

During the 1000 years, we and the billions that will be resurrected are being healed. That means we are still "sick" and due to that, we can sin, get stupid, etc. During this time, we have 144000 agents working with us to help retrain our thinking and actions. While we might sin, there will be counselors that will help us to correct ourselves. We will also have the elders in our local area that will be part of the theocratic arrangement of that healing program.

    Next question

    Will there be death?

Not from Adamic sin. If someone decides to be a total rebel, wanting to return to their former lifestyle, they face the judgment of such an attitude.

(Isaiah 65:20) 20 “No more will there come to be a suckling a few days old from that place, neither an old man that does not fulfill his days; for one will die as a mere boy, although a hundred years of age; and as for the sinner, although a hundred years of age he will have evil called down upon him.

As you recognize, Isaiah 65 is one of the scriptures that speak of the coming paradise.

These are a LOT of questions, and the truth is, all we can do is show you scriptures. Some of these have already been provided in answers above. However, most of your questions can only be answered by Jehovah and Christ Jesus. And the truth is that we leave all things in Jehovah's hand. Sometimes when we look at such minute details we fail to see the larger picture.

The task of cleaning up the earth may seem daunting right now, just as I'm sure the task of building a huge ark was also for Noah when Jehovah first spoke to him about it. But was it completed? Yes, with the help from Jehovah's holy spirit. Never doubt that Jehovah will accomplish his purpose for the earth. In time, we will know exactly what to do.

Joshua 23:14 "Now, look! I am going today in the way of all the earth, and you well know with all your hearts and with all your souls that not one word out of all the good words that Jehovah your God has spoken to you has failed. They have all come true for you. Not one word of them has failed."

Watchtower depictions of paradise contain surreal images of tamed animals, children, and luxury houses separated by many kilometres of parkland.

These pictures may well lure people to the religion, wishing to belong to such a world, but are not based on any form of reality. Certainly, without death there will be no children, as the earth would soon fill to capacity.

"When the mandate to fill the earth is fulfilled, when childbearing ceases, the marriage partners may continue their association together as life companions, or they may not, depending upon the divine will at that future, distant time." Watchtower 1952 Aug 1 p.478

Furthermore, this world appears to contain no infrastructure, no road, factories or electricity, yet has beautiful houses built from complex materials. If people are going to travel, research, and enjoy many of wonders of modern life, there will need to be modern infrastructure unlike what is portrayed in almost all Watchtower depictions of the New System.

A logistical question is, "If all the dead are to be resurrected onto earth, will they all fit?" Watchtower reasoning claims there will be ample room, based on a figure that only 20 billion people lived prior to 1900.

The figure of 20 billion is highly dubious, with the real figure likely to be several times greater than this. To highlight how little effort has gone into using a correct figure note that the Watchtower has been using the same number for over 100 years now. In 1925, The Way to Paradise p.209 stated:

"It is very doubtful if there have ever been as many as 20,000,000,000 people born on this earth."

In 1988, the Insight book was still using the same estimate of 20 billion people, despite 9 billion people having been born during the 1900's.

"A very liberal estimate of the number of persons that have ever lived on earth is 20 billion (20,000,000,000). The land surface of the earth at present is about 148,000,000 sq km (57,000,000 sq mi), or about 14,800,000,000 ha (36,500,000,000 acres). Even allowing half of that to be set aside for other uses, there would be more than a third of a hectare (almost 1 acre) for each person. As to earth's potential food production, a third of a hectare will actually provide much more than enough food for one person, especially when, as God has demonstrated in the case of the nation of Israel, there is abundance of food as a result of God's blessing." Insight on the Scriptures Vol. 2 p.792

The figure used by the Watchtower Society is without basis and the Population Reference Bureau estimates that 105 billion people have been born over the last 2,000 thousand years alone.

The earth has 148,000,000 km of land (although only approximately 31,000,000 km is arable). With 6 billion people the average amount of land per person is 5 acres. With 100 billion people this would be reduced to less than 1/3 of an acre each. This is unsustainable by any ecological model. However the figure is even less, as the entire world can never be arable, as this would entail not only growing crops on the highest rocky mountains, but also clearing all forests. To understand the magnitude of these figures, in 2000 China had 135 people per square kilometer; with 100 billion people resurrected there would be over 715 people per square kilometer.

If 100 billion people were to be resurrected on to earth there would not be a paradise of sparsely populated tracts of land, filled with smiling children living in mansions.

Seems some are not satisfied in just alone be EVER with Lord Jesus Christ.

What a bride is she if 'she' is looking out for mansions, fine linen, fragrances, riches etc than Lord the Bridegroom who is to come and receive her????

    1Thes 4:17

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Prepare to meet thy God Amos 4:12

To those whom Jesus is not God how can they get prepared to meet their God?

Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness Gal 3:6

Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness. Gen 15:6

    How are we justified?

    Gal 2:16

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ.

Does Abraham and all those included in Gal 2:16 believe in two different Lords for their Justification?
