how to prevent heat damage?

I love straightening and curling my hair.but i don't want to damage it.is it true that hair can never be permanently damaged from heat??and also,how to prevent from it happening?

    This isn't really a question that the Do It Yourself forum is best able to answer. If it was a building related question or hobbies maybe, but hair isn't really for here. I think the Beauty and Style forum would be better for your question. An easy quick answer is to use the lowest heat setting available on your blow dryer and use a straightening iron as short a period of time as you can. I'm sure the Beauty forum people can answer this better than I can, and make suggestions about additives for your hair.
