    When someone says "get over yourself" to you, they generally are chastising you in the context of some issue that you are arguing about. You may be defending some action you have taken or some decision you made or some opinion you have. So you may be arguing to protect your view or opinion - which is heavily based on your belief system or your self image. If you cannot get past your internal beliefs or opinions, you may not be seeing the bigger picture or the other person's viewpoint.

    Get over yourself and try to see the other side of the story... ;)
