Is it just me or is Mission Impossible 4 overrated?
Ok so here I am waiting for the movie for 6 months.. On the day of release, both critics and audiences alike saying this movie is epic whatsoever.. I go into the theatre wondering its going to be a rollercoaster ride, and then I come out and be like "That's it??"..
I take a closer look at its story, and its so generic with the America vs Russia nuclear war plot which wasn't even all that focused.. If you noticed, there was no crisis or political tension of any sort starting because of the Kremlin bombing, the camera just kept following Tom Cruise and co. Its characters and especially the villains were massively underdeveloped.. Tom Cruise scaling the building was cool, but then I keep my heart pumping for its upcoming car chase, and then I was like "That's it??? Just one ******* bang in a sandstorm?".. I for one thought this movie was very overrated, am I alone? or is there anyone else?

You are absolutely correct and I agree with you 100%.
A few months ago when it was released, I checked Rotten Tomatoes and it had a 94% positive rating, so I went to see it. Almost immediately within the first 20 minutes, I was turned off by the very weak and annoying supporting cast. The movies have absolutely no connection to the 1960's TV series, and this fourth installment was like Tom Cruise and a supporting cast of inadequate 20-year old actors.
The thing that really got on my nerves was the annoying British actor Simon Pegg freaking out scene after scene and reacting nervously to Tom Cruise's actions. They kept showing his reaction shots to everything Cruise did and said. It was driving me crazy. I kept thinking. " STOP SHOWING THE OBNOXIOUS BRITISH GUY ALREADY!" OK, we get it, he's worried about Ethan! You don't have to cram it down our throat. Every other shot was a shot of Simon Pegg freaking out.
The scenes where Ethan breaks into the Kremlin were awesome. The whole reason to watch the Mission Impossible movies is for scenes like that where they perform some incredible stunt to extract secret information. Scenes like that are great.
Unfortunately, you only get few scenes like that, and you have to sit through the other 50 percent of an over-produced pretentious drama with a cast of inferior kid actors who look like a bunch of GQ models. And an annoying Brit who keeps freaking out over & over every other scene.
The supporting scenes just killed it for me, and after about 40 minutes I couldn't take it anymore. I got up and begged the the theater guy to give me a readmission ticket so I could come back and watch another movie. I had to miss the scene where Cruise climbs down the big skyscraper because I couldn't handle watching the scenes in between. People are entertained by anything these days.
