What to wear to wedding?

I have only seen one wedding where a mother wore pants. Regardless of the fact that it was an informal wedding and the mother in question never wears a dress, it was an odd look.

Personally, I would just find a pretty dress to wear whose style is consistent with the formality of the wedding.

I would go with a dress, but not a dress that is too revealing or too glittery/glam, don't want to take attention away from the bride on her special day!
