Why are all the wealthy kids sitting together on campus?

Update:

@Mark: I note that you utterly failed to address the inquiry and this is a violation of Yahoo!Answers policy. I did not report your violation in hopes of being dazzled by you intellectual prowess once you realize your blatant oversight. The reason I intentionally chose to reiterate the title of the cited piece was it is is an inquiry worthy of note and I am interested in the responses of individuals who ochoose to provide their personal insight regarding the topic. There is information to be gleaned by reviewing topics and it remains my understanding that interaction by thoughtful individuals can result in edification of the human condition. It is evident that this simple point of enlightened interaction is beyond your normal state of being, but I hope you will choose to contribute before time runs out.

Perhaps there exists an entrenched mindset among affluent people regardless of educational or business setting, that being poor is much like a contagious disease that must be avoided at all costs.

Considering how much hoarding wealth is not so much an obsession, but as critical to wealthy living as breathing is to most of us, it's not surprising that whenever wealthy people go bankrupt or lose all their wealth, it's such a shock to their psyche, that they usually keel over and die.

I think they do it out of social necessity and to ensure that they're not caught or perceived by their "own kind" of sympathizing with the same economic class that wealthy individuals have endlessly exploited to ensure their wealth hoarding remains a dominant narrative within their own economic lifestyle.

Essentially the mere act of rubbing shoulders with people regarded by most rich people as "the help", is highly taboo among affluent individuals, it just isn't done or tolerated.

They are insulated, clannish and hostile toward swarthy outlanders.

EDIT @ Mark: Saying it "hits closer to home" not only indicates with which group you identify but that you derive some perverse pleasure from reminding others of their rank, or in other words, the subject hits close to home for you. Have a nice day, JackHole, and please be sure to convey to Buffy and Tad how envious I am of their sweaters.

"Why are you copying questions verbatim from magazine articles?" (You don't make yourself look very intelligent doing that.)

ps Let me guess: you're NOT wealthy and are stomping your feet: "why can't *I* sit with those rich kids in the Quad?"

EDit: Looks like a was right. Hit a little too close to home, did I? "Sometimes it seems I'm psychic."
