How much should I expect to pay to have vinyl siding installed per square foot in the midwest?

For basic Double 4" vinyl siding installed over a substrate that doesn't have to be removed first ( like aluminum siding), you can expect to pay $2.50-3.00 per square foot. This should get you a standard vinyl siding ( not Premium or specialty siding... just good basic siding) installed with 3/8" fanfold insulating backer. You will have to pay additionally for soffit work, custom aluminum or vinyl capping on doors, windows, fascias or other exposed wood. The contractor will offer you upgrades on siding quality, accessories used, other finishes as described to exposed wooden trims. Make sure that the siding being used has at least a 50 year warranty that is transferable to the next homeowner. Avoid contractors that want to use siding from Home Depot or Low es as they change siding manufacturers often and the you will have to find someone to help you with any future warranty issues. Alcoa and Certainteed are national brands that I install regularly.
