When making left turns on my bicycle, should I use the left turn lane or the cross walk?

I've recently begun to ride my bicycle to work 2-3 days a week. There are a couple of stretches of bike paths on my route to work, as well as less-busy, neighborhood streets that I use. However, there is a short stretch of a main road that I have to use which ends up necessitating a left turn.

In order to make this turn, I have to move over two lanes to get into the left turn lane, which, although legal, is often risky given how busy this roadway is. Given that I am more in the beginning levels of cycling, I am not quite comfortable with this, particularly during rush hours.

The alternative is to stay in the right lane until the intersection, and cross the street in the pedestrian crosswalk.

What would you recommend doing?

As bicycles are supposed to follow the same laws as motor vehicles, use the left turn lane, stick out your left arm as a left turn signal, and WATCH FOR PEDESTRIANS.

In my state, a bicycle is seen a motor vehicle and has an identical rights as a motor vehicle (yet of course with some policies). So sure you may bypass site visitors and make a criminal left turn from the left turn lane offering you yield to site visitors needless to say. you're additionally allowed to get off your bike and use the crosswalk as a pedestrian (although despite in case you truthfully could walk the bike in the time of looks debated). i in my view locate site visitors frightening on an identical time as on a bike and until I could do otherwise, I save to the sidewalks.

Use your left arm to give standardized direction signals. Up for right turn. horizontal for left turn and elbow bent and arm down for stop. Otherwise use the crosswalk for greater safety. Considering the idiots who think their phone call is more important than your life. For them roll up by their window, smile and ask to see their phone. Then toss it in the back seat and leave.
