If Trayvon Martin had shot Zimmerman under the exact same circumstances...?
Do you think he would have been arrested or would he have been given the same free pass by the cops as Zimmerman did under Florida's stand your ground law? Or to put it another way, if Zimmerman had been black and Martin white, would the result have been the same?

If the "stand your ground "law is the reason for no arrest, then yes trayvon would have not been arrested. However I believe the "stand your ground "law does not apply here because Zimmerman left the safety of his vehicle, and followed the teen. He should have listen to the dispatcher, that was a huge mistake on his part. There is a lot of confusion about this law, but also this shouldn't be labeled racism. People and the media need to stop holding their public court.

If Trayvon had shot Zimmerman, Obama wouldn't have said if he had a son he would look like Trayvon.
As much as I don't like to confess this in 2012 I believe many areas of society are still very racist. In most cases I would say it's ingrained instinctual prejudice rather than up-front and open racism. What I mean by this is, if two equally qualified and experienced men, one black and one white, applied for the same job at the same time and nothing else except color separated them, most of the time, the white man would get the job. UNLESS the company in question was consciously aware that they was falling behind with their equal opportunity statistics.
Rather than go away, in a lot of cases I think racism has gone underground because racist people know its no longer socially acceptable. The problem is, if someone has a belief, that belief is not just going to go away on its own just because its become taboo. I'm not even sure it's possible to change a racist but at the very least a change of heart would require a lot of education. In my life I've seen racist white people who actually have one or two black friends. Now you would think that might help them see the insanity of their belief but it doesn't. Instead, they will just say. 'oh that ones alright' and still think the same about all others of the same race.
The sad truth is I think racism is probably worse now it's underground because when it was in the open at least it could be challenged and confronted head-on but now racism is wrapped around lies making it almost impossible to prove now.
The light at the end of the tunnel is approaching though. This new generation of kids have lived in a multicultural society they're whole life and if you watch kids today, most of them don't even notice the difference between colors anymore. To them, people are people no matter what color skin you have. With kids today the color of skin is seen in the same way as hair color and as eye color is different between people. This is a wonderful thing because it means racism IS going away and eventually it will be eradicated once and for all. One day in the future, people will be shocked to learn that racism used to exist. It will seem as bad to them as we view slavery now.
One other important point. I also think the fear of racism is going to live on longer than racism itself. This is natural if you think about it but it will mean in the future there MAY be a different Zimmerman who get wrongfully accused.
I'm of the strong opinion that EVERYBODY should be innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers. Its wrong, unfair, and unjust to entertain speculation, hearsay, opinions and rumours. This sort of thing can actually harm any court case because it makes the jury's job extremely hard as it's human nature to form opinions. The very best way for Trayvon to get justice if indeed Zimmerman is guilty of murder is to allow due process to be carried out. Then, only after he has been proven guilty should people share their opinions.
None of us was there when it happened so everything we see and here is second, third, and forth hand information which is untrustworthy at the very least. It's possible Zimmerman could be innocent, even if it's only a small chance. Imagine how you would all feel if it did turn out he was innocent all along. This is why due process MUST be respected and you should have faith that justice will prevail when the truth comes out.

It would still have been Zimmerman's fault.
Because he is not Black, and the Thug was.
Blacks cannot be wrong.
