In Bangkok, is it possible to go to a floating market using public transport?

Will be here for 3 days. Went to the pier sathon(?) And the people were unhelpful and/or did not speak English. I am one person so did not want to hire an entire boat. Is there a ferry? How do the locals go there. Don,t tell me they all hire boats?

Nearly all of the floating markets in Bangkok are purely for tourists. I only know of one market that isn't. Never been there, though. It is on Sundays, you can get there by bicycle. And you have to ask for it. The guide will then make sure you visit that market.

If you want to visit one of the other touristic floating markets, the best thing I can recommend you is to book it through a travel agency or your hotel. They'll get you there in comfort (usually sit-in in a minivan), from your hotel.

It is possible to get there by public transport, but in that case you must be able to speak Thai fairly well. Most Thais do not speak any English at all. People are very helpful, but they have no idea at all what you want. That's why they appear to be unhelpful.

The problem with public transport is that all signs are only in Thai language, and there are no fixed schedules. That's impossible with the traffic in Bangkok.

You can use a long-tail boat for going to floating market. There are many rental boats in Bangkok.
