OK to mix two different wood finishes?

I have golden oak kitchen cabinets, and golden oak in the bathroom down the hall, but I'm wanting to refinish the oak in the bathroom. Do you think it's ok to have a much darker (or maybe white painted) cabinets in close proximity to another wood type?

    Absolutely a yes to your both ideas. I also think the white painted would look fantastic.
