What is your favourite movie city?
Inspired by the book I am currently reading,
Tim Burton ~ J Clive Matthews and Jim Smith. (The book itself, once you get past the format of it, is helpful for anyone wanting to get insight into the filmmaker or filmmaking in general.)
Anyway, there are photos inside the book on thicker white paper, and one that struck me was the Batman Returns one. I've never seen it, but I loved this picture of Gotham, which is described as ''neo fascist''

Other ones I love include London in V For Vendetta and New York in Watchmen
Remember- city, not town or suburb.
BQ: Would you want to live in that city during the time period in which the movie is set in?
BQ2:Favourite character from the movie you chose?

Hi Maddie :)
I have lived in big cities most of my life, so I choose the movie Sleeping with the Enemy
Cedar Falls, Iowa,
When she cleans up the old house, repaints and puts flowers out, and then sits on the porch on her swing I could almost feel how tranquil she felt at that moment, sure the town was small, but it was charming and peaceful. Something I would love to feel right about now.
BQ Yes I would
BQ2 Ben the next door neighbor, lol would have him as a next door neighbor any day of the week
This s the only clip where I found her on the porch

Hey Maddie! Superb question :D
Oh man, oh man! I absolutely adore L.A in Blade Runner! Every time I watch and re-watch this movie I'm in complete awe of this fictional re-imagination of the city. It's so cool and dark with that massive geisha advert on the building. I mean... http://mokudekiru.com/b/wp-content/uploads/2012/02...
Epic.
I must have been 14 or 15 when I first watched it. And right from the beginning the panning shot of the city skyline that sets off the film by storm. The futuristic depiction of the city connected by a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk backdrop, Sheer brilliance. :) :) :)
BA: 2019? Heck yes. Minus the replicants though. :)
BA2: As much as I love Deckard, I have to say Roy. He does the most changing and evolving of any character in the film, and like any great film villain, is the most complex. Roy seems, to me, to be the richest as far as depth of character and journey.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Hey Suicidal :D
Hmm, there's quite a few notable mentions. The bright lights and allure of Las Vegas were clear and very present in "The Hangover" (http://blog.bridalexpochicago.com/wp-content/uploa... as you mentioned London in "V For Vendetta" along with London again in "28 Days Later" (http://thisdistractedglobe.com/wp-content/uploads/...
However, my favourite would be New York City in "Taxi Driver". The suburban jungle, isolating streets that Travis drives down on and scum-covered gutters provide the perfect setting for the mental deterioration of Travis Bickle. The way the city is portrayed, it's setting and the characters whom it contains all make for one wonderful combination in which Travis Bickle resides.
BQ: New York City in the 70s? I guess that wouldn't be that bad, it would give me a chance to see the twin towers before the tragedy of 9/11. I guess it wouldn't be as populated so it wouldn't be as busy and it probably would make for a nice place to live.
BQ2: Travis Bickle.

Oh, I love the 1950s versions of Baltimore that Barry Levinson depicts in his films, like "Diner" and "Liberty Heights." I mean, who doesn't want to drive in 1950s cars, go to art deco movie theaters, eat fries covered in gravy at the local diner, and attend James Brown shows downtown?
BQ: If it weren't for that whole segregation thing, absolutely!
BQ2: From "Diner," it's a toss-up between Kevin Bacon's obnoxious, alcoholic Fenwick and tim Daly's down-to-earth Billy. From "Liberty Heights," it would probably be Adrien Brody's Van.

Favorite city would be Paris from Amelie. Such a romanticized view of Paris, especially with Amelie roaming through it.
BQ: Definitely.
BQ2: Besides Amelie, I'd have to say nino (the man that Amelie fell in love with), he's so strange and handsome.

I guess, the city of Metropolis in Fritz Lang's movie, Metropolis.
BQ: Probably not
BQ2: That would probably be Grot, just because he has a cool name.
