Why is Romney afraid to release his TAX returns, are they so cooked he would end up in Jail?

Will the real SLIM SHADY PLEASE STAND UP?

Update:

Romney released an ESTIMATED TAX RETURN. hesitating to release the real thing.

Update 2:

@WooCares: The same reason the presidents college records, birth certificate and religion is non of your business.

Update 3:

@Answer2: Bank accounts have been located in the Cayman Islands and Swiss Bank accounts so what is he trying to hide? He is too shiesty and sketchy to be trusted at his word.

I don't believe so. I suspect that if the American people saw Mitt Romney's tax returns, the low effective tax rate he paid would become an issue, as well as some of his donations for political candidates and political causes (California's Prop 8, being one example).

Just for clarification...when Romney was being considered as Sen. McCain's running mate, he provided McCain with over 20 years of tax returns. Now that he is the presumptive nominee, all he has released is an estimated return for 2011, but none of his previous tax returns. In contrast, President Obama released all of his tax returns dating back to 2000, when he was running for president. Since then, Obama has released his tax return each year.

I was under the impression that Romney released an estimate, showing that he will be paying 14.9 percent to the government. The pressure to first release his tax forms began on Dec 11, 2011, not even after the close of the year. Seeing as it is now getting close to tax time, I don't see this question has much validity anyway. Romney didn't hesitate, but obviously they were not finished when he was asked. An estimate was all that he had, as his taxes are far more complicated than the average American.

You know, it is not unusual for a presidential/vice president candidate to release their tax records, just prior to the time that they secure their party's nomination. Geraldine Ferraro didn't, but when she finally did she and her husband owed 50,000 dollars more than reported. President Reagan did not release his until August. Hillary Clinton was finally pressured into releasing hers in April. They do, both Dems and Reps, in due time.

No, Romney's taxes are not cooked. I do not believe that the Democratic Vice President candidate, Geraldine Ferraro's were either, but their taxes are far more complicated than the average person.

When Romney inherited a huge fortune upon his father's death, he donated ALL of it to charity. Romney is a selfmade man, who is running for the presidency for ALL the right reasons. He has nothing to prove and nothing to gain financially. No, but he loves this country and will do everything in his power, if elected, to put America back on track. While he was the governor of Massachussets his state enjoyed 5.9 percent unemployment. One could say that people who are looking for a job would vote for him, as he has a good, proven track record, not just all smoke.

Because they'll show that he's not the common man his campaign is trying to portray him as, and it will show that most of his income came from destroying other people's jobs.

Obama and Biden have both released their full tax returns for the past decade.

It's wrong for a conservative to conceal how much money he made? But. it's OK for a socialist, liberal to fail to prove he is qualified to hold his job? You are really a pip, hippy.

Possibly I'm missing something... It was my understanding, he already did, release his TAX returns, & he's paid 14.9 %,, or there about.... Or is there something else, the public hasn't been informed about ?

Why hasn't O'Bama released his college records?! What is he hiding?! Is he afraid that it will prove what we all already know and that is that he not only isn't a Constitutional scholar but that he never even graduated?!

The real slim shady is president!

For the same reason Obama refused to release his tax returns. Refusing to release your tax returns is nothing new to politicians.
