What do you think of this StarWars/Politics analogy?

It seems clear to me that the Conservatives are mirror images of the Rebel Allience and the Dems are mirror images of the Empire. I mean, conservatives always defend the republic and Libs always push for larger government, including a larger, more powerful, Central Government. Libs like to control every aspect of your life, just like the Empire and Conservatives are more Freedom orientated all around and look to apply the law equally (i.e. criminal law/Tax Law) as to avoid a slippy slope created by a ruling class. The United States was formed as a Republic and giving more power to the Central government is anti-republic in nature. (for example, making states change the way they do things or else be cut off from any federal aid. Or maybe cases where the Feds use some distorted view of the interstate commerce clause to get THEIR way). Seems pretty clear to me that Star wars is a good representation of what we have going on here in the U.S. today. Empire=Democrats Rebels=Conservatives.

It falls apart because some of your Rebels simply want to replace those running the Empire, without significantly changing the way things are. Other Rebels wish to change the Empire into a theocracy, and otherwise have their own agendas.

And even in the evil Empire there are individuals who try to do good, who try to use the power of the government for good. Or even question the reach of that government.

Finally, you're walking into a slippery slope trap of your own. By picturing those who disagree with you as "evil", you are essentially treating them as unworthy of being listened to, or are otherwise automatically wrong in anything they say. This attitude may give you a smug feeling of moral superiority, but it makes it harder to actually accomplish change or enter into a dialogue with those you disagree with.

The reason Star Wars was so popular is that it accurately reflected politics at all levels.

Yes, I agree with your analogy

I always thought Darth Vader was trying to tell us something about black people. He was violent and an absentee father. Wise I am young jedi.
