Something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice.

For about 3 medium cucumbers, cored and diced... combine

    1 cup of water

1/2 cup of wine or rice vinegar

    1/4 or less of sugar

    1/4 cup of oil

    2 teaspoons of salt

1/4 teaspoon of coarsely ground bk. pepper

Stir well; add the cucumbers to the dressing and chill at least two hours; serve.

One medium purple onion, chopped and 1 tomato, cut in wedges may also be added.

    Wine vinegar. White or red

I think regular vinegar is too harsh. Just my opinion though

Vinegar is probably what is missing. It adds that acidic tartness you're looking for.

Are you using any vinegar in it? My grandmother used to put white vinegar in hers. (In the midwest.)

We always use white or cider vinegar
