As long as the dog has provisions, food, water (not toilet water) and a place to sleep then it is ok. Make sure it has a place too go potty too.

its cruel the dog will be lonely and bored i rescued two dogs brothers from a similar situation both had destructive tendencies and showed aggressive behaviour.

As long as the dog has got a comfortable bed to lie on however I dont really think that it is right, I think a dog crate of the proper size is more suitable as long as it only for short periods of time.

No as long as it is only while you are at work. Of course he may do his business in there as well.

No, it's not...a lot of people keep their dogs in crates during the day (which are much smaller than bathrooms)...as long as the dog has water (and food, if fed free choice) there should be no problem...
For dogs that aren't housebroken or that tend to be destructive when left alone, confining to a small room (bathroom, laundry room, etc) is often the best choice...

Yes, the police walk up to your bathroom window when you aren't looking and see if there's a dog, and if there is, the come back when you're home and arrest you
