What happen to the days where crappy infrastructure was unacceptable and education was a priority?
This was not party divided, both parties though education and infrastructure was critical, anything past that was debated
now we have crappy infrastructure, education is at the top of the list for things to be cut and everything is party divided
there are things that are worth being debated for and then there are things that are known to work
infrastructure and education are those things

$92,000 per year per student is spent on Education in the USA.
$42,000 per year per student is spent on Education in Finland.
Finland ranks in top 3 world wide in various measurable areas.
The USA ranks around 20th in the same areas.
GOVERNMENT Involvement is the Cause of our Educational Problems.
Get Educational Control down to the LOWEST Level of Control (Parents-Teachers-School Boards and Cities) NOT at the HIGHEST Level - the US Department of Education that cares nothing about what our kids learn, but rather, how much Power and Control and MONEY they have.
$6 BIllion spent ANNUALLY by the US Dept of Ed for ADMINSITRATIVE-OVERHEAD Costs...not for Tuition or Teachers or Buses or Schools.....
Just to Pay 5,000 Federal Employees to Collect our taxes and Decide how much each state gets, and to tell each state HOW they MUST spend the Our Own Money that they deem us worthy to have back?
Really? And we should just give them MORE Money to Fix the Problem?
Thanks for our Honest Concern and Care about what I agree to be our Biggest Issue, Lack of Education....NOT Lack of FUNDING....

Back then the local school boards, not the Dept. of Education and Teachers Unions ran the local schools.
Back then road and bridge building money was used where it was needed, not evenly shared by the most powerful Representatives and Senators (roads to nowhere) with crumbs left for less powerful Congressmen. I drive on a major 2 lane road that they just widened for 2 miles, just in some random spot. It has actually made traffic worse because now there is a merge in the middle of nowhere that wasn't there before. Clearly a favor to a local contractor, meanwhile, I know there are several small bridges within 50 miles that are in grave need of repair.

Education in this country has gone DOWN THE SHTTER. More federal tax dollars isn't going to solve the problem.
