Mass Effect 3: Does my squad have to die?
So I am nearing the end of Mass Effect 3. I am about to enter the beam on the final mission. After a short cut scene I hear that my whole squad dies except for me. I brought Garrus and Liara with me. I would really like it if they didn't die. How do I prevent this from happening?

If you effective military strength is high enough then you won't see their dead bodies and they are assumed alive. It's possible that you see them alive and kicking in the final scene of the game. If your military strength is too low, you will see their dead bodies near the Conduit.

That mission was still a confusion to all ME 3 player right now. All of us are suffering from the plothole ending Bioware gave to us. You gotta have to wait for the Extended DLC ending which will be release on summer. It will also fill all those plotholes like your question.

No one is still really sure what happened. They may have died, and then again they might not have. It was not clear. I purposefully brought my least favorite characters with me.
