Just my attempt at helping someone else here. Please c/c?

Another bit of oddness from the mind (?) of Ski -- Idaho.

SUPERSTITIONS

Please don't send me cut flowers...

I am a superstitious guy.

I consider them a sign of impending doom.

Beauty cut down in its prime, you know.

Don't say Macbeth in a theater

(Unless you're performing that play).

It will bring nothing but bad performances,

Bad reviews or worse to your show.

(I've heard that once, a theater

Burned down on opening night!

Throw salt over the left shoulder when cooking

(If you spill any).

Don't walk under any ladders.

Don't let a black cat cross your path.

A broken mirror means seven years of bad luck.

Friday the 13th is a day to just spend in bed.

(Although it's always been good luck for me).

Humans are a superstitious lot,

And though it may seem strange...

It's never hurt anybody yet,

Our beliefs are our beliefs.

They keep us sane and happy.

And, insanity is trying the same thing

Over and over...

Hoping for different results.

Like I said, "Marlene Deitrich With Added Tonsillitis"...

Ski Idaho, I declare that you have the best and most apt

    Quote Of The Day!

I don`t know how you got these all in a goodies-bag together -

are you the poet who used to be real nervous? -

Much interesting and forward-motion development here -

turf some over, if you have too much, Ski :) (:

Tres bon! (wolf-whistles across the pond...).

    Mr. Idaho

This was a nice piece my friend. Very entertaining. My favorite line is:

    "Our beliefs are our beliefs"

Take this all a step farther, because it is the measure of our relationships which drive us to insanity: When will we learn to accept each person the way they are>?

As far a critique of your poem sir, it is minimal so I will defer :)

    Congrats!

    Good words.

You are absolutely correct about insanity. Very succinct definition and spot on.

But about the cats... I have two black cats. Maybe that explains a lot, :)

I really enjoyed reading this poem. Yes, most of mine have been included in your bouquet of superstitions,

(instilled in me by my maternal grandmother). Another of mine is not to walk on the cracks in the pavements. I remember this one from the age of seven. If I trod on the cracks in the paving stones then someone was going to die. How awful is that? Needless to say, none of the ones passed on to me by my Nan has caused the slightest bit of bother in my life. And nowadays I do walk under ladders, but always look first.

    Thanks for the read.

No. Insanity is letting someone have power over a child to the extent that the child does exactly as told without question. The child will grow up with dysfunction. Then replace 'child' with 'nation.'

I have a past rich in superstition. When I am troubled my fingers twitch. When very angry I repress the anger. Sometimes things around me at such times spontaneously get kindled or just burst into bits. So I am given to leaving abruptly which everyone thinks is being rude. Quite the opposite, to me..., so I think superstition is like you said:

'And though it may seem strange...

    It's never hurt anybody yet,

    Our beliefs are our beliefs.'

    Ski! Absolutely amazing!

Your closing quote is brilliant and one I've always enjoyed.

Question though I get the black cat thing...

    What about fiery haired cats?
