Is my 6 month old german shepherd going to get faster?
I have a 22 week german shepherd (really 5 months) and I was just wondering if she is going to get any faster? Because I can keep up with it right now, and she is slow to accelerate. She is a top working line from Europe cost me about 2 grand, great, healthy, extremely intelligent Bella is.
And also she weighs about 40 lbs is this normal for a 5 month old female?

There is a risk of German Sheperd's getting hip dysplasia, so if she's really slow, I would have her checked out to make sure she doesn't have any medical problems. Purebreds tend to have more genetic issues than mixed-breeds, and 40 pounds is about average. By a year old she should be about 60 pounds and that would be her full weight. (Estimate, since I can't see the dog.)
A real test of her speed is having her chase something that she really loves. Either food, a favorite toy, or the mailman. If she's still slow, she might have HD, or arthritis.
