Question for Christians and anti-gay people: How do you feel about civil unions between two homosexuals?
I believe in God, but I'm also a homosexual. My partner and I are planning to take part in a public civil union ceremony with other gay couples in a few months. We are doing so to help increase the visibility of the homosexual community in our area. If you are anti-gay or Christian, do you think civil unions between the same-sex is ok as so long as it is not called "marriage?" What do you think the difference is between a civil union and a marriage? How does homosexual marriage affect you?

Homosexual sex is a sin. I do not support this sin or any other sin.

People need to recognize that marriage isn't about procreation and it isn't about God or Christianity.
Marriage is about two people who love each other committing their lives to each other, vowing to be together, it's about two people and promising that they love and will always love each other, and that no other person may come between them. Christianity has NOTHING to do with it.
I don't like the idea of "civil unions". I find it degrading that gay people can't have even the same terms used as straight people. I eat breakfast, not gay breakfast, damn it. Gay people should be allowed to marry, period.
But if gay marriages are not recognized where someone lives, then I guess civil unions are the way to go. Sorry for ranting. I just felt like I needed to say that. Now I shall prepare for a raging storm of thumbs-downs.

I'm Christianity but not anti-gay. I do believe that homosexual activity is sinful, but I don't focus on it much because it is by no means the only sin.
I support the right of homosexuals to marry or have civil union. I don't believe that the church has a right to impose its view on a secular and multi-cultural society. I know marriage is a God-ordained concept relating to the union of a man and a woman. Yet I also know that we live in a society that is not a Christian nation and our laws must provide equal rights to all in our society.
I think religious get very confused and in attempt to prevent free individuals from doing what we/they see to be sinful, we deny others their basic human rights of equality.

If you want to link your unholy union in a business-like manner that is fine with me. Just don't expect me to call it a marriage. Jesus loves homosexuals as much as everyone else and hates their sin as much as everyone else's. He can also change your heart, so you better make sure your "union" won't get in the way of a heterosexual traditional marriage down the line when you want one.

Help me out. How do you justify picking and choosing in the bible? So many places, old testament and new, condemn homosexuality. How in the world can you say 'I believe in God" but then want a civil whatever you want to call it. Give up the gay life. So you'll miss out on some disgusting gay sex in this life. The rewards of "taking up your cross and following Jesus" will FAR exceed your "losses" in this life. You are staring a trial right in the face. Are you going to side with the World or side with God?

I am a Christian and I just can't stand anyone who judges someone it's not my business to judge anyone and tell people how to live there lives my friend..
I am a straight woman..
Look I can careless what people do in there lives. That's whats wrong with the world there always in someone's business instead of paying attention to there own lives which is no different coz we all commit sin! Do anyone know that GOD hates it!?!?! Hates it to the core when people try to do his job? Basically there saying there God when they are judging when we are all sinners...
The only people I hate is
Murderers, rapists, child molesters, and racist/ prejudice people <--- there the ones who are really destroying the world by causing so much damage, pain and war etc... A gay man or woman has never done a thing to me and if one did I can't blame all gay people for something one has done..
Most people who judge gays are fornicators, fornicators are committing sexual sins too so who but GOD can judge you me or anyone?

"I believe in God, but I'm also a homosexual..."
...not the Christian God, surely?
"What do you think is the difference between a civil union and marriage?"
Civil Union: a union for the expressed purpose of gaining tax exemptions and other socialized benefits from the government.
Marriage: a sacred union between a man and a woman who become one and express their love and marriage through the act of procreation.
"How does homosexual marriage affect you?"
In the same way knowing that thousands of women/girls are being smuggled into this country for the sex industry. I probably will never meet a girl sold into sex-slavery, but it is evil and immoral and as a Christian who is commanded by God do stand up for goodness and against evil, I stand against sex-slavery.

"public civil union ceremony"?
does that mean your marriage won't be recognised by a bible believing church?
well do what you want, but i don't support two people in a romantic relationship living together unless they are married by a bible believing church.
