What breed of dog is responsible for the DC Dog Attacks?

For the people who have no idea what I am speaking of here is 1 Video: 4/21/12

http://www.wjla.com/articles/2012/04/only-on-7-blo...

Notice how this website calls them a White Cane Corso !

Well on this website it calls them Pit Bulls:

http://video.msnbc.msn.com/msnbc-tv/47135701/#4713...

This one calls them American Bulldogs:

http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/323702

These dogs have even been called Presa Canario & Dogo Argentino , so which is it?

Being that these dogs are 190lbs I know for sure they are NOT Pit Bulls, my guess from the video is Dogo Argentino.

The worst thing about this whole attack is they know exactly where the Owners live, but no Charges have been found. The owners should not only pay for all the Medical Bills, but for the Automobile as well !

Update:

2nd Question: Why didn't the Vet take pictures of the dogs before they were euthanized( in the light). to get a better idea of what dogs they are ?

And this is why BSL won't fix anything... "no officer, my dog isn't a pit bull, it's a Blue-Nose Canary Mastiff", "well, the law bans Presa Canarios, but my dogs are American Bully Dogos". Does the breed or mix matter to those attacked? Even if you banned all of the "fighting" breeds I could go and create something just as bad (I'm thinking I would start with a Boxer and a Jack Russell and then throw in some Mastiff of some kind).

These dogs whether they are "pit bulls" or Dogos or Presas or Bullies or American Bulldogs or Poodles or Golden Retrievers were roaming at large in a "pack" attacking children. The issue is the at-large. Where was the owner? According to the last report, an "individual" removed them from the scene of the first attack and set them loose somewhere else... sue the pants off of that individual and the owner.

Without papers you don't have purebred as far as I'm concerned, and the kind of scum that will let their dogs roam and attack repeatedly are not the kind to have their dogs registered. The dogs are described as "190 pounds" and "white" - even Dogos aren't supposed to be that big, and Presas don't come in that color... these dogs are at least poorly bred if not mongrels if they are any of the proposed breeds. I wonder how long until someone proposes that we ban all of the possible breeds just to be safe?

all of these dogs are alike in looks

would have to ask expert what they are

byb and mixes have no standards so yes they can be that big

The article referred to them as Cane Corso. This is not a "pit bull" but once again, the media reports, and people report "pit bull attack" because of a short haired muscular dog. By the way, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Presa Canario, American Bulldog- none are "pit bull". Neither are any of those breeds dangerous by breed but by irresponsible owner or individual dangerous dog.

Thanks for another example of mis-reporting without investigating, depending upon whatever ignorant person on the street or responding authority decides to call the dog because a.) it is reported to have attacked and b.) it is referred to as a pit bull because it is attacking, short haired and muscular.

These dogs are far bigger than any pit bull. The video is unclear, but this is clearly a larger breed or breed mix like a Cane Corso or Dogo Argentino or a Mastiff of some sort. It doesn't look like an American Bulldog to me either, but the video is too crappy to say that for sure.

I agree with you about the possible dog breed but still, this is about irresponsible owner not containing their dogs that are not properly socialized. Not sure what happened in the attack or how bad the injuries were, but media should get off their butts and actually INVESTIGATE and present facts. That is what GOOD journalists and reporters do. They dig and report FACTS rather than spread hysteria with he-said, she-said non-facts, and marginalize a breed type because it makes good news and people tune in to get on the frenzied band wagon of another "pit bull" attack that isn't. And often, it isn't. Sometimes it is. But by no means always.

I have to wonder, too, why the news media is not reporting on this from an angle of irresponsible owner whose dogs are roaming at large.

  • I saw this on the news. They are NOT pit bulls, Cane Corsos, or any other breed. They look like mutts. This is what I mean when I say the media can'tbe trusted. They can't even get there story straight. It is stories like that that tarnish the APBT, even when they didn't do anything wrong.

They're probably just bull breed crosses, bred by some numpty who wants the "meanest" "muscliest" bull breed dog they can get then treated them so badly with such poor training they did that. I wouldn't pin it on any breed, just another really bad owner.
