Things to do in San Jose?

I'm flying cross country (I live near Boston) to Stanford University this summer for a stayover camp/summer program thing. I'm 16 and my family isn't coming with me, but I might be staying a couple extra days with some family friends because of flight dates and whatnot. They don't have kids my age, so I probably won't have much to do. They live about a half hour from the University, I think in San Jose Bay area (not sure where this is). Are there things to do around there or will I just have to sit there doing homework for the rest of the time?

Tripadvisor has a list of 63 traveler recommended attractions in the San Jose. I filtered out the things that a young person really wouldn't enjoy and that left me with 31 possibilities for you. There are:

    Museums, Zoos and Aquariums

    Landmarks and Historic Sites

    Amusement/Theme Parks/Arcades

    Education Sites and Libraries

    Sports, Golf and Outdoor Activities

    Spectator Sports

There are some things I know you won't care for (I have two sons!), but those had to be included in the categories I chose. I do hope that many may appeal to you and provide some new experiences and fun during your stay.

  • The tech museum is a must see. Also, there are plenty of restaurants and clubs you can enjoy in San Jose.

You should drive up to San Francisco. It's only about 45 minutes away :)

Maybe hang out at Valley Fair, or Santana Row. There's always stuff going on there.
