Why won't my laptop and HTC Wildfire S recognise each other?
Since yesterday my laptop and HTC Wildfire S phone aren't recognising each other. There is no connect type prompt on my phone, nor does the autoplay window appear on my laptop.
On My Computer my phone is displayed as a generic removable drive, without the HTC icon or name. When I attempt to explore this drive it prompts me to enter a disk into the drive. It also does not appear in the sync tab of WMP.
I have tried restarting both devices, turning off and on USB debugging, and switching the USB ports.
On connecting or disconnecting the phone from the computer the appropriate system sound is played. der-der!
Any help much appreciated
Windows 7
HTC Wildfire S running Android
They are plug and play.
I should have said, these worked once but no longer. I hope it's the USB cable. The phone still charges though.

Your USB ports might not be plug and play.
