Will colleges care much about freshman year?

I'm trying to get into Berkeley but my freshman year has been less than easy...failed a class(Spanish)...was put into another class this semester(geography) and not doing so well in that either(D is my current grade)...will these prevent me from getting into a good college?

if you've aced sophomore and junior year then i don't see a big problem. improvement always helps your case. and if you want to go somewhere that doesn't care about freshman go to carnegie.

i did bad freshman year of high school too. but if you do real good the rest of high school it will be ok. colleges mostly care about g.p.a and your SAT or ACT score. i know freshman yr i didnt do too great but the rest i made pretty much A's and B's and i got accepted into every college i applied...which was about 5 lol. Also, I went to University of Tennessee and for my honors and college classes i took..they added a .5 or 1.0 towards the class. So when I took honors english and got a B in the class, normally be a 3.0 but for UT it was a 3.5. So when i applied my gpa was a 3.9. Them doing that helped alot and it was a really difficult college to get into!! so just check and see if any of your school have any nice cheats like that. And i believe you can get into a good college if you continue to work hard! :)
