CVT engines...any good? I'm considering of getting a car with one?
Test drove a 2008 Nissan Altima yesterday. Noticed it has more torque than its HP, and great smooth acceleration. What do you guys think of these types of engines? Has the CVT engine improved in 2011-2012?

I forget where I heard it but someone told me that CVTs can be more expensive to replace and maintain than a standard transmission. I actually have one in my Murano and it is usually pretty smooth actually. I have noticed, however, that many car manufacturers that use CVTs and have luxury Marques use them in the lesser models but not the luxury versions, which makes me wary.

A CVT is not an engine. It is a transmission. And those transmissions aren't the best.
