To single moms, what do you do for Mother's Day?

Especially those who have small children, who cannot plan anything.

My son is 21 month old. I doubt he is going to fix me breakfast in bed. He has become excellent at pulling things off the shelf when we go shopping, but he lacks the funds to pay for them. He can still give me a great and sweet present of snuggling. :)

Do you do anything special with your kids?

I work all the time to support my kids. I work evenings and weekends and holidays. So we don't do anything very special on those days.

But we DO celebrate income tax day, You know, when we get the big check. We also celebrate good report cards, the first day of spring, and the release of that awesome new video game.

For little ones, how about read 2 books instead of 1 that night?

I always forget that it's Mother's Day - my daughter is 3 and the first one I remembered was last year. I brought HER breakfast in bed and made her a Best Daughter card and bought her a kite. She gave me a card and a lopsided paper flower that she had made at nursery. We then spent the day at the park with the kite.

If your mum lives nearby, you could take your son there and have a three generation Mother's Day.

Hi, I am single Mom of a now 14yr old. When he was small, I just celebrated with him but luckily my family often stepped in and made sure it was celebrated. As he got older, he would make gifts at school. Now he is old enough to actually get me something on his own, or do something nice. Again, he has family that prompts him.

Best year, age 2.5, got him his 1st tricycle so Mothers day was spent riding it, it was wonderful!

Im not single and this is my first mothers day as a mommy but i'm going to answer anyways :)

Spend the day with your son :) Even tho its suppose to be a holiday about YOU, obviously he can't do much and wont understand anyways so just make it about you and him. watch movies, cuddles on the couch with treats and candy, go to the park, movies, just have fun with only the two of you.

My mom used to drink rum and then laugh while whipping me with an extension cord, claiming I "ruined her body and soul".

Well who's laughing now mom! You're dead from the cancer!

Nothing special, just what I'd do any other day.

Nothing was different when I wasn't a single mum, I didn't expect anything special, just a card.
