I am thinking of studying the Jehovahs Witness....?

but i am having trouble deciding. I have people telling me that they are the wrong religion, other people tell me that their non-denomination church with Jewish roots is the better choice. They keep telling me that Jehovahs Witnesses are wrong. I feel and see the Jehovahs Witness have a clear understanding, and are honest people aside what other people say. They are calm, loving people who love God. But i need advice! Why do they not believe in holidays? Why do they preach door to door? Why do people prosecute them so much, and only because of all the things the hear, not of what they actually know. Do they believe in Jesus? Do they believe he died on a cross? Please help! Thanks!!

I agree with you that Jehovah's Witnesses are honest and caring people who love God and the Bible. However, don't be mislead by claims they are the only Christians to be persecuted, and this proves they are God's chosen people. There are hundreds of thousands of Christians around the world languishing in prisons, being tortured and even put to death because they refuse to renounce Christ Jesus - and they are not Jehovah's Witnesses!

With regard to their beliefs, there are only two issues you need to be crystal clear on - the person of Jesus and what the Bible says about sin and salvation.

Did you know they believe Jehovah created the pre-human Jesus as Michael the archangel? Or that after Jesus died his body disintigrated and it was a spirit creature that materialised? Have they told you that Jesus, the man, is dead - forever dead and will not be coming back to earth, contrary to what the Bible says? You see, if they get the person of Jesus wrong, then everything else they believe in crumbles. The Bible nowhere says Jesus was created as Michael the archangel, but Jesus is the Word, who was with God in the beginning and who is God. Their Jesus has been relegated to a created angel and is "a god" - a little god. I don't recognise their Jesus - I can't find him in my Bible. The Jesus of the Bible is the only way through which people can approach the Father, but if you don't know who Jesus REALLY is, then everything about salvation is lost.

Did you know they disagree with Jesus when he said before a person can see the kingdom of God they have to be born-again? They twist his words to say that applies only to 144,000 persons. And what about their claim that you can earn the right to be declared righteous? That's one of the reasons they go from door to door - they have to work hard if they want to survive Armageddon. Have they got round to telling you yet that in order to be saved you have to belong to their organisation and remain faithful and obedient to their leaders? Oh, and ask them what happens to baptised Witnesses who disagree with their leaders and fail to do as they are told.

Your eternal salvation depends upon accepting Christ Jesus as your Lord and Saviour - on belonging to him, not to some organisation. Their Jesus is a mere angel, a created being, and they do not know who the Son of God really is. Focus on that and you will discover their version of Christianity bears no resemblance to the Christianity of the New Testament.

But they are very nice, sincere people. They're just seriously mislead and do not preach the gospel which is all about Christ Jesus, and has nothing to do with belonging to an organisation. They preach a false gospel and have altered the word of God in order to give substance to their claims. I know this because I was brought up from birth in a Jehovah's Witness family. And no, I do not hate them and disagreeing with people is not persecution!

The nr 1 reason why you should reconsidder ever joining is that JW are told that Jesus is NOT the mediator for the great crowd in 1 Tin 2: 5 but only between God and the 144 000 in spite of the words in the Bible that Jesus is the mediator between God and men!Dont be decieved by their appearances m hear the testimonies of former members who has lost their family and friends as aresult of joining this organization and how they are shunned simply for leaving even if the still profess a believe in God,Jesus and the Bible! Their is no honorable way out of this organization ! Visit and talk to former members on the link at the Jehovahs Witness discussion board I provided!

I appreciate your open-minded questions, and your desire to think independent of what others have told you. I also appreciate your search for the truth.

Please understand that JW's will love on you, and encourage your current independent thinking, until you are in their group. Then, independent thinking is discouraged strongly.

They will tell you all sorts of bad things about people who don't agree with them. especially former witnesses. They have evil, mean, rumors to say about them, and spread it as gossip. Of course they wouldn't agree with me, but when a person says mean things that they heard 2nd hand, or 3rd hand, that is gossip. When you hear these comments, and you will quite often, ask if what they are saying is something they witnessed, or are they just repeating what they heard or read.

Do a little search on the web for "theocratic warfare". In a nutshell, it is the JW practice of deceiving people to further their organization, or protect their organization. That alone should put you on the alert that anything that comes from their mouth may not be true. Why go down that path if the leaders can and will deceive you at any given time?

Ask yourself how they could be the true religion 100 years ago, (and those followers will go to heaven) yet if you practiced today the same teachings taught 100 years ago, they would kick you out: celebrating birthdays is okay, celebrating Christmas is okay, the world will end in 1918, it's okay to worship Jesus, the King James Bible was a good translation, drinking booze was not allowed, all JW's go to heaven, etc, etc.

The Bible is explicit that if a person makes predictions in the name of God, and if those predictions do not come to pass, they are a "false-prophet" and not to be believed. Yet, the JW leadership has done that over and over. Again, look up "Jehovah's Witness false prophecies".

Look up "accuracy of the New World Translation" and see if they are again trying to pull a fast one as to how well it has been translated. Don't take my word for it, or the word of someone using theocratic warfare on you, but look at what the vast majority of Bible scholars who are familiar with Hebrew and Greek say about their interpretation. You may even find the court record of one of their leaders who lied under oath about his ability to read Greek and Hebrew.

They want you to visit their church, but would never visit yours.

They want you to read their material, which is often written by former Christians, but would never read your material from former JW's.

They say Jesus is an angel. Not only is that not Biblical, but a quick read of Hebrews 1 will reveal what the Bible says about Jesus being an angel.

Do yourself a favor. Don't believe them, and don't believe me. Do research on the web, and at your local library. See for yourself. Ignore their pleas to stay away from anything other than Watchtower material. That would be like looking for a new car, and only reading the brochures from Yugo, and ignoring all the Chevy, Ford, Toyota, BMW, Honda cars. How much more important is your eternal destiny?

Abide in His word, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. The Bible never tells us to read Watchtower publications, or to explicitly trust the words and opinions of a "Governing Body".

You don't need their material, you need what God the Father has already left for us... His Word, and His Holy Spirit.

Firstly, do what you feel comfortable with. Most people will tell you not to but if you want to, do so. You aren't going to be forced to become one of Jehovah's witnesses, if you don't feel what you are being taught is right, you don't have to continue with it. The reason that we don't celebrate most celebrations is because they have pagan roots e.g Christmas being linked to saturnalia. We preach from door to door because of Jesus' command at Matthew 28:19,20. And also, the 1st century Christians did the same as we do today - they set the example for us. Also, Jesus said we'd be persecuted. We do believe in Jesus but that he died on a stake

Ask yourself... howmany other churhes use the bible to back up their beliefs.

    Most holidays have pagan origins

jesus said to preach the good news just as he did.

The bible says that the true followers will be persecuted for his name

    .

of coarse we believe in jesus. jesus is key to fullfilling the bible profesies.

yes he died. but not on a cross (which is also an anciet pagan symbol)

Ultimately the decision is yours, but if you are asking for advice on this subject - I would advise to not do so.

You have probably spent some time reading the Jehovah's Witness literature. I urge you to now look at the other side of the fence and see what former Jehovah's Witnesses have to say about the religion. A larger question for you may why do current Jehovah's Witnesses REALLY not want you to see what former Jehovah's Witnesses are saying? If the current Jehovah's Witnesses felt completely secure in their beliefs, they would not feel threatened by a prospective Jehovah's Witnesses such as yourself reading as much information as you can on the subject.

The Jehovah's Witness superficially appear to be calm and peaceful people, but you should hear the other side of the issue from former Jehovah's Witnesses. This isn't just sour grapes on their part - the former Jehovah's Witnesses have legitimate issues including a system that protects child molesters and abusers, an authoritarian religion that has no room for criticism or debate, a high track record for false prophecy (making claims about the end of the world, etc.), and the severe lack of humanitarian aid from an organization that simply pockets money from its contributors.

I mean no offense, while I have never been a Witness, there certainly is some appeal with their well defined eschatology and how the JW's appear to people who are just calmly serving God. Indeed many Jehovah's Witnesses have good hearts and are decent people. The issue primarily is with their governing body or their "organization".

Before you decide I would like you to read this article:

It may give you some insight on your decision.

You have asked good questions. Rather than me answering them, I propose you find out who is speaking truth. Here is how.

Ask the same question to anyone you choose of differing religions you know. And ask it of some just smart people that may not have any religion. Then ask as many Jehovah's Witnesses as you are able to ask. The objective: To see how many answer from the Bible instead of their own beliefs.

It really does not matter what any human answers. None of us can give you an extra moment of life. Only God can give eternal life That makes his opinion the only important one. See who gives that. They will be telling God's Truth.

My fellow brothers and sisters have answered your questions well. Others are trying to deceive you and turn you from worshiping the true God Jehovah. Did you know the Jesus we follow, the same Jesus of the Bible, tells us who we are to worship? John 4:23-

    New International Version (©1984)

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

    New Living Translation (©2007)

But the time is coming--indeed it's here now--when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

    English Standard Version (©2001)

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

    New American Standard Bible (©1995)

"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

    King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Notice the one he says to worship is also called the one true God in John 17:3? So, please, study, take in the knowledge of Jehovah God. See how learning the truth about him and what he does for his faithful followers. Learn the truth about what Jesus' role is in Jehovah's Kingdom. This knowledge you learn about the true God leads to everlasting life.

We have been taught by Jehovah. He has educated us.

Jehovah's witnesses will come to any site you suggest day or night.

You will use YOUR Bible any translation.

All your questions will be answered by a qualified minister; so go ahead and see if they are "twisting," the scriptures, or letting Jehovah's holy spirit guide you.

My husband tried to save me from them and now he is a long time faithful brother.

I suppose you need to evaluate the pro's and con's. The trouble is that sometimes the pro's when coming from the mouth of what you are evaluating can be somewhat deceptive. But just imagine if the one telling you the "pro" is under a deception them-self. What can and does happen is the already deceived is not a true representative to evaluate. All you are evaluating is how they have been deceived. In other words the person or even many people evaluated is not a "true" concept to access, because the whole thing is a deception.

It is hard to understand exactly what I am talking about because unless you experienced how these types of things can influence the human mind previously in your life, then it just never occurs that deception could ever happen this way like it does in the Jw org. What is basically going on within the Jw org is people are being led "to think" that they are dependent on that organization for all they need to know. What this means is that they are in a type of control. But while they are being controlled as such, it does not mean that they are being instructed to be evil and that is not the objective of the control; the objective of the control and I know it does not seem apparent, is that the hierarchy right up the top of the chain are prospering by their elevation and lifestyle. Of course these ones take a low profile and are not outrightly making their exploits common knowledge, and if they did the deception would not work would it?

So what we end up with is a people who have had their minds dulled into a false sense of security. Still by the same token they have a sense of security and that is their objective in their cause. Now if we put a heap of people together overall under the same thinking of unity and security, nearly instructing their every move made with the real purpose of a covered up objective of feeding the top of chain, then by their followers "appearance" coming across like nothing untoward, one may think what could be possibly wrong this organization?

So what I am basically saying is deception does not work unless it seems credible.

If you looking at just the people of this organization and making your judgement on that, than this may not be a true representation. Yes could look at that and say this is the result, these people seem nice and I feel I want to be one of them, but as you do that, are you missing other things. The other things are being controlled, man-made concepts, rules and being led on lies.

If you ever become a representative of this organization you are expected to defend all the lies. That means for the innumerable errors of the watchtower writings in past history, you have to keep defending those with more lies, watering down things to make it seem credible.

Is this really the life you want? Do you want to have to submit to that organization as the thing to be defended? Is this really what is going to make you secure? Is the happiness that these people have really all that happy as they make out, or is the happiness just an act? Do you want to be controlled by this organization?

They are not a God's only organization as the Jw org says they are and it is a false sense of security to think that. I suggest that you and anyone else out there who is either thinking about getting involved with them, or perhaps ones already there to look to the opposing website links given in other answers above.
