Stupid guys and text messaging - help me understand?

I'm talking to a guy on a dating site for a few exchanges. He offers his number and says "if you'd rather text than type here's my number."

Ok, first of all, how is texting NOT typing?

Second of all, where is the sense in going from a machine that I can easily type 65 words per minute on and have unlimited amount of characters to using a hand held device that is difficult to type on and only allows 160 characters at a time? What does he get out of reducing the conversation to a limiting resource? I can only surmise he has issues with using his rational side of his brain, or somehow he thinks he can "play me" (although sadly he played himself asking this).

WHERE IS THE LOGIC????

Why would you prefer to text than to either use a website or USE THE PHONE. I swear the nations youth is going to hell in a handbasket with this texting obsession. I don't think this is isolated to men, however yes this question is slanted that way.

Please tell me either where the logic is, or affirm that he is indeed a tool.

There's logic there. What he's doing is wanting to text you as a cover just so he could get your number.

In some men's minds, texting is a way of escalating the conversation from just an "online introduction" to something more personal. It gives the satisfaction of him doing so well that you would give him your number.

Don't read so much into it. If you don't want to text him, then you have the right not to.

Haha you remind me of Sheldon from the big bang theory.

Anyways, from my point of view it seems like he wants to text you because not everyone has access to a computer all day. And texting does not need to be replied to instantaneously.

I dont see anything wrong with texting. I dont mind talking on the phone either if i actualyl have something i need to say. But if its just a check up or a slow conversation may as well do it through texting.

he's no longer fascinated; in the different case he'd be throughout your texts. the gap should be a element, yet from what you assert he sounds impulsive and quick to act of his pastime is raring. in the different case, he will ignore. do not get upset or sense stupid; you've performed no longer something incorrect. Being your self isn't a sin - get over his nonchalant idiocies and discover someone who'll have a good time with you extra.

Christine, give the guy a break.

You are one of those gals who gives the rest of us a bad name.

He is trying to start a relationship with you one the cold world of technology.

I see you ladies thumbing your keyboards all the time, half the time while on dates.

So don't rile up on your high horse when a guy uses the vernacular of the time.

Hopefully he is reading this and dodged a bullet with you. IF this is how you treat him right out of the gate, how will you be when you are "comfortable" with him.

    Poor guy.

well on a iPhone typing is actually easier because of the auto correct(even though it can get you into awkward spots) and maybe he likes to move around rather than sit at a computer.

Other than that yeahhh i got nothing.

Source(s): I personally just text to set up time to see girls in person. date or not
