Do men lack empathy or am I in love with a narcicist?

I'm wondering if most men are empathetic. I'm sadly just figuring out I'm probably 'in love' with a narcisist. He is severely lacking empathy and downright cruel now...unwilling to face his own actions. Runs from conflict that he starts, and his remedy is leaving the building or the relationship..naturally only to come back looking perfectly sane...He was giving and first (same old story right?) promised the moon, seem true. But I think it seemed that way because he believed it too. But the mask fell and what's inside is nasty nasty. Trying to reverse my love and brain. I genuinely thought this was my soulmate. I have never been so off the mark.
