Fridge sounds like it's turning on twice?

It will turn on and run for awhile and then it makes a tiny clicking sound, whirs and turns on again even though it's already running.

The temp is good, the freezer works as usual. But I have no idea what is going on?

Update:

I should have mentioned that the fridge never made this noise before. It's about 7 years old, and the ice maker hasn't worked in several years. It's a Maytag side by side.

Id have to hear it for myself to be 100% sure but most likely it is the compressor turning on and when the coil reaches a certain temperature the fan will click on to blow the cold air into the fridge it is completely normal if that is the case. The other thing it could be is the ice maker if you have one.

Turn the icemaker off, either with a switch or the wire bail. Even though it doesn't work, it may be calling for water.
