How come fingerprints stay the same?

I heard in discovery that all our body parts get replaced. So why do fingerprints stay the same? Also why do tattoos stay the same?

All our body parts don't get replaced, they just grow as we grow. A fingerprint is just a unique marking on our fingers. This unique marking has been with us since birth and may be to small to see at that stage but as we grow, characteristic becomes more visible. Tattoos stay relatively the same. They may stretch with increase of the body mass but thats about it.

Obviously, "all our body parts get replaced" is WRONG...

You are a pretty good sleuth...
