social security... did you know?

that not one congress has served a full term without an amendment to social security being made and all are in violation to the original bill enacted in 1935.

Update:

1963 was just one of the amendments.

Many changes have been made to the Social Security Act of 1935; these changes are called amendments. Amendments do not violate the Act; they add to it. The wonderful thing about our form of government is that changes can be made to reflect societal changes. The 1963 Amendments brought about Medicare which was the major change to the Act. Another important change was that it made benefits available to husbands and widowers; prior to the amendment benefits were only payable to female dependents. None of the amendments "violated" the 1935 Act.
