What are some of the Mormon beliefs?

We are Christian.

No we do not believe in the doctrine of the trinity as defined by the various councils of the 3rd and 4th centuries, but as our first Article of Faith states, "We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost." We believe they are one God but 3 separate and distinct individuals who are one in purpose.

One of the biggest things that sets us apart from the rest of Christianity is that we believe that God still calls prophets in our day. Men like Peter, Paul and John, Moses, Isaiah and Abraham.

Yes we are not perfect and accordingly our members have made many mistakes, however that is why we need Jesus Christ. That is why we worship him as our Savior and the only way by which we can get to heaven.

Like many of the people we read about in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, just because we have access to God's word does not render us immune to sin and temptation.

Many good answer here by those who know. Only a couple of things not covered but found in the references.

1. We believe that God has an ongoing interest in the activity, advancement and progress of man as we are all literal spirit children of God, made in His likeness and image as taught in scripture.

2. We believe the modern Church to be a Restoration of the original gospel as taught to Adam, Abraham, Moses and Christ all down through the ages and that His Authority to minister unto men in power which was given by Christ to his Apostles to bind on earth and have it also bound in heaven was also restored to the earth in 1830 to the prophet Joseph Smith. This authority has to be restored from time to time because men tend to change things over time as they stray from the true doctrine introducing their own precepts of men into worship, thus restoration must follow periods of apostasy.

3. We have an unpaid ministry and believe in serving God and in doing good to all with all our heart, might, mind & strength. We believe in the ultimate justice of God in all things and the fulfillment of all his words in regards to man.

Really, it's all a very rewarding and joyful lifestyle that utilizes much in the way of logic, reason and common sense besides faith, virtue and the hope of a better future.

We teach that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the original true Church of Jesus Christ, personally restored to the earth by the Savior, and directed by Him today by continuing revelation to His living prophets and apostles. This is to prepare the world for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ has restored His priesthood authority to preach the gospel and administer its saving ordinances again upon the earth. Each baptized and confirmed member receives the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by those who hold proper priesthood authority, to guide them throughout their lives as they live worthy of His constant companionship. The Savior's true church has to be united, as this one is in its teachings and practices world-wide; the conflicting doctrines of generic Christianity among all other denominations cannot have come from God, even though their basic faith in Jesus Christ does come from Him. He has established The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to unite all Christians and any of the other of our Heavenly Father's children into the Savior's true and living church, if they will learn, accept, and live its doctrines.

It looks like you have received some good answers here so I will only state what I believe as a Mormon:

I believe that Jesus Christ is and was the Savior of the world; the greatest of us all. That without him we would have no chance of returning to our Father in Heaven's presence.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God. Both in his spirit and in his physical body and because of this fact it gave him the capability to not only have true compassion and love for us but to have the capacity to give up his life and then take it up again through the resurrection.

I believe that Jesus Christ was resurrected and as a resurrected being still has a body of flesh and bones. One that is immortal and perfect and that to be resurrected is the free gift given to each of us for choosing to come to earth and receive a physical body.

I believe that we are made up of two things; a physical body and a spirit which resides in that body. That God is the father of our spirits and the creator, along with his Son of Adam and Eve and all that is.

I believe that as his spiritual child we each have great potential and he loves each one of us personally. That he is concerned with what we do here in life and has given us scriptures, prophets, families, and our own conscience that help us throughout life to make the right decisions and to come back to his right way through repentance when we make the wrong decisions.

I believe in prayer. That it is personal and powerful. That our Father in Heaven listens and answers sincere prayers and that we can pray at any time and in any place. I believe that when we pray we should not only ask for things we need but thank him for all that he gives us and that it is important to listen and follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit.

I believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that through our Savior Jesus Christ his gospel in its fullness was restored again to the earth. That the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (nickname: Mormons) is Christ's church and that there is a prophet on the earth today that directs the affairs of Christ's church and receives revelations from God for the sake of all humanity.

I believe that the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture and a companion to the Bible. That God loves all people everywhere.

There are allot of other things that I believe in but I hope this gives you a basic understanding. It is what motivates me to be on this site answering your question. It is what motivates young men and women to go on missions for two years at their own expense. It is what burns within your heart and enlightens your mind when you pray...a testimony, a witness, a conviction that this IS the truth! Believe it! We invite you to find out for yourself and to taste of the sweetness of the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you go to one of our meetings you will hear about Jesus Christ and how salvation comes through His name and by no other way.

You could say that anything other than that is just an appendage to our faith in Christ.

The major difference between us and others stems from belief in modern day revelation and prophets, which include a new book of scripture to be red as a companion to the bible as well as a few new rules that are sort of specific to our church.

No caffeine - sort of true, we're not banned from soda drinks and chocolate, we just don't drink coffee or tea.

No dating before 16 - true

Dress conservatively (no bikinis or cropped tops) - it's recommended, most strong Christians are conservative that way.

The husband has to allow his wife to go to heaven - not true; if there is a section in heaven for husbands and wives to be together it would make sense that in that area they would indeed be together - so if you see a man opening the door for his wife at a valentines day dinner that's a good thing, not a bad thing.

When you die you repopulate your own planet - that's not promised, few interpret the scriptures that way, most don't pretend to know that.

No female priests - the note two above this refers to husband and wife being together; the woman receives the priesthood with her husband and together they have the blessings of it. There is a lot of female leadership in our church.

3 "levels" of heaven - similar to what Paul taught, actually there are infinite levels, each person being rewarded to the highest extent that God is able to reward them rather than strict general categories.

If you are good enough you can become a God yourself - Like all Christian we believe that we should become like God; we also believe in Christ's promise of being joint heirs with Him in heaven if we are faithful; being with God and like God could will be referred to as being a god, but that is different than being God, nobody can be God, we can only be what we are and be saved through the grace of God, so wording this as if we believe we could be higher than God while relying on His merits to increase in a like attitude towards him is a bit twisted.

Beliefs include covering up and obfuscating circumstances surrounding cultish behavior with ceaseless hokey sounding drivel.

Research examples such as Blacks / Mormon Priesthood / color Cain for an example of how Mormons believed Blacks were inherently evil, until they changed their mind on this for expediency in 1978.

Look up the Mountain Meadow Massacre when the killed women and children and their associated excuses.

Look up Sealing Ceremonies and how their barring Christians from attending conflicts a tad with their goal to be considered Christian.

Then look up Mormon cult excommunications to see how they judge and punish here on earth.

Run from this cult!!!

No coffee or tea. Only worthy long-term tithe-paying members can attend weddings, which are held in secret behind the locked doors of temples (even non-Mormon family are locked out). God and Jesus currently exist somewhere in flesh and bone. Mormons don't learn all the beliefs of their own church until after years of indoctrination, and they are forbidden discussing sacred beliefs even with each other.

I'll give them this: I wish my church had secret handshakes.

THE Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints is Jesus Christ's true and holy and righteous Church. Therefor

THE Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter Day Saints is the only Christian Church that Jesus Christ fully and completely approves of.
