does a child's size effect their immune system?

My son is 2 and a half years old but is still very small. He weighs about 23lb (which is good for him he was 5lb 14oz at birth and suffered from bad reflux to the age of 10 months). I was wondering whether this would mean he only has a small/weak immune system like that of a baby the same size? He is constantly catching every bug going and it always seems to effect him really bad. He has been constantly ill for the last 5/6 weeks. He can go from being perfectly fine one minute to throwing up every minute the next.

I always take him to the GP after 2 weeks of being ill but the doc he sees always tells me he will be fine.

I don't want any stupid answers from people who are bored please only from people who have had the same experience/know what they re talking about.

I think there is something bigger going on and I'd find another doctor. He's really really small for his age, the average 1 year old is 22 lbs. Even at birth he was in the 10th percentile, and at his age he's closer to a one year old size.

No, his size doesn't effect his immune system, but his immune system can effect his size.

When sick the body puts energy into fighting infection, not growing, so kids who are sick all the time tend to be small.

Sickness in toddlers is not unusual. To keep down on the illnesses keep him away from sick kids, and you can also work on good hygeine. We had to drop the "five seconds rule" on fallen food several months ago because my now 26 month old twins kept getting 12 hour viruses from foods they dropped on the ground and then ate. Normally this should really be okay, but it was clear that dropped food was causing a problem for us.

If his problem is sudden vomiting, could it be an allergy? My guys get car sick after eating eggs. Took a long time to figure out that was the culprit!

It is common for kids who start daycare / preschool to get sick very often the first year, as their bodies are not used to all the other kids germs.
