A few ?s 4 both sides:Does the bible condone same sex relationships or marriages? O.T. vs. N.T.?

Now before you get all pumped up! the question is: "Does the BIBLE, not the U.S. CONSTITUTION."

(O.T.)

Leviticus 18:22

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

(N.T)

Mark 12:30-31

30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Romans 1:26

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Romans 1:27

And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Romans 13:10

Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

1) If you was a bible believing Pastor or Priest, base upon this information, could you condone same sex relationships?

2) Could you hate, oppress, despise or evil treat your neighbour in any way for being so?

(U.S Constitution)

" One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for ALL"

3) If you was the President of the United States, according to this document, could you condemn same sex relationships or marriages even if it goes against your religious belief?

4) If you were a VOTER for a candidate for President of the U.S.,would you expect the President of the U.S. to be your pastor or priest and to impose his religious beliefs in to political decisions?

I guess some of you don't know how to read or won't. The question was about what the bible says. You could debate all you want about what you think. DOES THE BIBLE CONDONE IT? Yes I used caps because I yelled, because some of you are to deaf to hear the question. It is about the bible not you opinion. If you don't give a ________ about the bible don't answer the question. The bible does not condone it!

1 - There are several problems with using the Bible as an argument against homosexuality. First, Leviticus also says it is an abomination to eat shellfish and shave your beard. Yet, Christians accept and do these things all the time. In fact, most of the laws are Leviticus were dropped by early Christians as a way to recruit more non-Jews to the faith. Second, slavery, wife abuse, and child abuse are all promoted by the Bible, yet, the vast majority of Christians would agree these are not acceptable in today's society. The point is that most people 'pick and choose' from the Bible to support their beliefs.

2 - There was a recent sentiment I agree with, if you claim God is a god of love, why do you feel it is okay to hate people you have never met because they love each other?

3 - I have a somewhat radical position that the government should get out of the marriage business. Make all 'marriage' civil unions/contracts, and leave marriage as a religious institution.

4 - A political leader can believe anything they want, but if that belief impacts their decisions, then I have a problem with them. For example, if you are going to promote a position about sex ed in schools that is contrary to what we know actually works (to reduce STDs and pregnancies in teens), then I have a problem with you.

I don't give a **** about what the bible says about marriage. The debate isn't about who the bible says should be allowed to get married. It's about who the laws of the state of New York, or North Carolina or Massachusetts, etc, say should be allowed to get married.

Some opponents of gay marriage like to use the 'slippery slope' argument claiming that gay marriage will lead to people marrying dogs, or some such nonsense. Well, I have another slippery slope argument. If the bible is going to be the arbiter of who should be allowed to get married then why should people in the US who are Hindu or Muslim or Buddhist or Shintoist or atheist or agnostic or deist be allowed to get married?

Religion has no place I government. That is because interpretation of sacred texts and church dogma are not subject to the will of the electorate. Each politician can make up an interpretation that supports any piece of law.

Also, since the US does not have one religion, enshrining one religion in law is antithetical to US ideals.

And, by definition, religion is the adherence to beliefs which are and will remain unproven.

Do you want leaders who make decisions based on unsupported beliefs, or on scientific evidence?

Do you want US law based on astrology, Islam, Wicca, and a literal interpretation of 2000 year old texts, or on a reasoned analysis of economics and science?

Yes, they have made the Truth of God into a lie, and chose rather to worship and serve the creature more than the Creator. At the final stage of downfall, God gives up on the person, and turns them over to a mind void of discernment; a mind unable to distinguish between right and wrong, and good and evil.

The Bible makes no mention at all of single people being required to subsidize married people's tax breaks, kid's education, insurance package deals, and such. Adding fudge packers to the parasite parade adds insult to injury.

    No.

The only marriage recognised in scripture is between a man, and woman.

Anything outside of marriage is fornication, or adultery if one party was formally married.
