Pool Ring won't stay inflated - what about styrofoam?

I have an Intex pool with the blue inflatable ring that holds it up.

It must have a small hole somewhere because within an hour or so about 1/3 of the air is out and after two days it is more than half deflated. We have tried several methods to find the hole and we CANNOT find it. So we thought about cutting a hole and filling the ring with something like styrofoam packing peanuts.

Do you think it would work? Or do you have any other suggestions (other than buying a new pool)?

Thanks in advance

This must be a small pool since your considering packing peanuts. Fill a spray bottle with dishwashing liquid and cover the ring wtih soap. fill the ring with air and listen and watch for the leak. Patch with any kit ment for Intex/vinyl pools. The peanuts would work but the hole is going to let water in and mold will grown all over inside the ring.
