What kind of pain? Because I can tell you what is not heart pain: Sharp pain, pain in a single easily defined location (Can he point to where it hurts without hesitation, basically.) pain that lasts for days/weeks without other symptoms. But the #1 source of chest pain: Anxiety. Panic and anxiety trigger harmless chest pains of monstrous proportions. Its truly terrifying.

He needs to be listened to for mitral valve prolapse; it can have symptoms of a heart attack/pressure in the middle of the chest. If no one else will care, have him go to an emergency room and tell them the symptoms. I know several nurses who have all said that they would rather a person come to the ER, when having chest pains, than not. Even if it is not a heart attack, they want to find out what is causing the pains. Suggest the doctor listen for mitral valve prolapse; it will sound like a click. It is when this heart valve does not close properly, and lets the blood back up into the heart.

Source(s): I have mitral valve prolapse; I found it out when I thought I was having a heart attack and went to the hospital. I was put in for tests, and a heart sonogram found it. My blood pressure medicine also helps me from having symptoms.

Could be a lot of things, even gas. Might want to check it out if it's persistent.
